About this listen

Actor Adam Fischer doesn’t believe in second chances. Heartbroken after his boyfriend - ex-boyfriend - Charlie leaves him to chase a music career in LA, Adam decides to focus on his own career and forget about love. Meaningless hook-ups don’t keep his bed warm, though.

Fresh out of college, fashion designer Penn Shields can’t believe his luck when he lands a dream job as wardrobe assistant in Queen Victoria theatre. Not only that, but on his very first day he meets hottie Adam Fischer.

Who also happens to be his brother’s ex.

The last thing Penn wants is to follow in his brother’s footsteps, especially since they haven’t spoken in years. However, the attraction he feels for Adam grows with each day, and soon resisting it becomes impossible.

Adam and Penn complement each other’s personalities in ways that fit together like pieces of a puzzle. But they’re both struggling with issues beyond their control, threatening to destroy their relationship.

Are Adam and Penn strong enough as a couple - and individually - to fight for their love?

Emotional yet Blistering Hot!

Would you consider the audio edition of Mask to be better than the print version?

I say they are about the same. As a person who has dealt with depression I was able to relate to the print version, but I know if I hadn't I would be able to feel it in the audio version.

What did you like best about this story?

Teodora continues this series and she does not disappoint. She brings Penn to Adam. What is interesting is Penn is Adam’s past lover’s twin. Can Adam get past the physical beauty to see the inner beauty of Penn? Adam is battling his own demons, depression. He is afraid that it will destroy him and his potential relationships. He holds back from Penn, even though Penn wants Adam. This is a beautiful story of true love. Penn helps Adam work through those demons like a true partner in life. Adam takes his time to fall in love with Penn, to know that Penn is Penn and not just Adam’s former lover’s twin. These two are completely sweet on each other and support each other. Penn is just the person who Adam is truly attracted to and when these two come together physically, OH MY!!!!! Sparks that could ignite a village come alive. Wow oh wow. While these two fall in love, we get to see the continuing story of Fenix and Jared from Dance. I truly enjoyed that Teodora continued their storyline and sprinkled them within Adam and Penn’s story.

What does Todd M Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Todd did much better with this story than with Dance. He brings an emotion to this story that some listeners may not understand if they haven't experienced some of the demons that Adam is experiencing and Penn is experiencing helping him. Todd does not just read this story, he lets you experience this story.

If you could rename Mask, what would you call it?

Mask is perfect. Mask plays well with how Adam feels.

Any additional comments?

Again, I am in love with this series, these men and Teodora’s storytelling. Although, it does not feel like a story as I feel like I am living within the men and living their lives. Definitely recommend this series.

Another hit from the West End!

I loved Penn in Dance and was thrilled that his story was next. The twin twist was unexpected, but worked. It was so much fun to hear more of Jared and Phoenix's story from Adam's perspective and how they, in turn, reacted to his relationship with Penn. The chemistry between Penn and Adam is tangible and Todd M Smith did a nice job bringing it to life in the audio version.

Love the Connection

Adam and Penn were a good interesting couple. Penn happens to be the twin brother of Adam’s ex boyfriend Charlie who could never really commit to Adam and broke his heart when he left. Penn is the exact opposite and is a sweet and wonderfully thoughtful character who gives Adam more chances than he probably deserves until he can’t take it anymore and leaves Adam to figure out what he wants. There is some drama and a lot of heartache but there’s also a lot of sweet and sexy times between these two. I definitely like their chemistry better and am interested in the connection between the MC’s in the next book!!

The narrator definitely kept my interest better in this one and while he’s still not my favorite British narrator, he started to grow on me a bit! But everyone has different tastes for narrators and he’s definitely a good fit for the books!

Great listen.

This is another great listen in this series. Since the first book I wanted Adam's story. So Adam and Penn's story is just wanted I want. They have great chemistry and I love the whole twin twist that Teodora Kostova brings into the story. Todd Smorh does a great job into bring this story to life. It made me not want to stop listening.

Penn and Adam

Would you consider the audio edition of Mask to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mask?

All of the moments where Penn and Adam were taking their relationship further were memorable. I also enjoyed seeing some of the scenes from Dance from a different perspective.

Have you listened to any of Todd M Smith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to the audio for Dance and preferred the narrator's performance of Mask.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The entire story was amazing and engaging.

Fabulous!!

I loved this book! Adam and Penn's story has all the feels. I like that there is struggle to make the relationship work, but the men eventually get their HEA. This book is part of a series and can be read as a standalone, but there are parts involving characters from the first book that would be spoilers if not read in order.
To Teodora Kostova- I absolutely love this cover!!! The designer did a fabulous job!
