Publisher's summary

Welcome to Burnt River, a new series of contemporary western romance stories set in the fictional town of Burnt River, Montana. Brought to you by Shirleen Davies, Peggy L. Henderson, Kay P. Dawson, Amelia Adams, and Kate Cambridge.

When your life's plans change in a heartbeat, you have a choice.

Do you give up?

Mason Taggart's one goal in life has always been to become Burnt River's veterinarian. In the blink of an eye, an accident leaves him bound to a wheelchair, shattering his dreams. Since no one can tell him for sure if he will ever walk again, he sinks deeper into despair as time passes. Starting over seems impossible, until he gets an unexpected nudge from the new vet in town.

Do you run away?

Coming from a long line of surgeons, Lori Emerson made the choice to go against family tradition and strike out on her own in a different direction. Fighting against long-held stereotypes and her own demons, she finds temporary solitude in small town living until her past catches up with her. Leaning on the hometown boy for support might force them both to confront their deepest fears.

Do you take a chance and face the unknown with someone you love?

Mason is convinced he's unable to continue in his career because of his handicap. Lori's insecurities prevent her from doing her job effectively. As they struggle alone, will they realize they are stronger together, both professionally and as a couple?

Mason's Rescue is a standalone, full-length audiobook with a HEA.

Rated PG - contains some mild swearing and kissing.

Mason's Rescue: Burnt River, Book 6

When I read Shane's Burden (Burnt River Contemporary Western Romance Book 1) I fell in love with this new series. I didn't think anything could top a story that had a match-making horse but I was wrong.

Mason's Rescue was incredible. I loved how both Mason and Lori are both strong individuals that had no problem taking the other to task. Their compassion for each other really made this a wonderful story to read. The fact that they rescued each other made this a winner.

I am really looking forward to the next book by Peggy in this series.

A Great Combination

The latest wonderful and moving story in the Burnt River series. Two veterinarians are both battling their own issues, his physical and hers emotional.
Peggy weaves her extensive knowledge of veterinary medicine into this great story, as they come together to heal each other while making their dreams come true and forging a lifetime of love. To top it all off, Cody's expressive voice brings the characters to life and takes you right into the heart of Burnt River.

Another great romance worth reading

Having already read the story, I wished I hadn't....because the audiobook performance is SO GOOD! He really brings the story to life.
As for the story itself, this continues the series well. Did you just finish the previous book and are wondering what happens next? Everything is covered and there are no questions left unanswered, which is a huge selling point for me. I know cliffhangers or mysterious endings where you have to use your imagination are fun for some people, but not me. I love that Peggy Henderson writes completely.

Mason and Lori are both likable characters, and I can hardly wait to read Raine's story next!

This is a quick read but packed with content, so if you want a good romance story that doesn't take weeks to finish, this is for you.

Just loved the story!!!!

What did you love best about Mason's Rescue?

I always love a happy ending. I did enjoy the journey that Mason was on. Not every one has a perfect life and things do go wrong and dreams get shattered. I loved that Mason's family still worked to help Mason during his time of trouble.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed all the characters in this book. Each one had a personality that added to the book. I did like the old vet doctor. Reminds me of the some of the men I knew when I was young. Just an old country doctor who knew his animals and people.

Have you listened to any of Cody Roberts’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Cody's performances are consistently good from one book to the next. He has a good voice range that lets him do both men and women without sounding off.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Spoiler Alert: The moment when Mason was telling that he could feel something below his waist.

Any additional comments?

Mrs. Henderson did another great job of bringing Mason's story to life. I look forward to her next book.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!

One of Peggy L. Henderson's most delightful stories. The best of the Burnt River series. I have always been partial to Peggy's historical (time travel) romance novels but this sweet, quick, contemporary read showed off her versatility as a wordsmith regardless of when. The story grew around a rural Veterinarian's practice. One would have thought Henderson herself was involved in the field of animal medicine with the convincing and specific way she described the ailments and treatments. Really enjoyed Mason's Rescue.

Conquireing together is better than standing alone

All Mason wants to do is to work his dream job as a whole man. All Lori want to do is to gain her confidence back in her new job after a devastating internship. These two doctors find that by facing their individual struggles together, anything can happen, even love. That is if they can survive each other first.

Peggy L. Henderson has written another excellent story! This is her second of three entries in a multi-author book series about Burnt River, Montana. I am looking forward to her third installment! Each book in the Burnt River series can be read as a stand-alone, but why would you want to do that? It is a wonderful western town that very talented authors have created which centers around one high school teacher who impacted more people than he could ever imagine.

Cody Roberts lends his wonderful voice and storytelling talent to bring Peggy's characters to life! I always look forward to his narrations!

This book was given to me and I voluntarily am giving this honest review.

Loved Mason and his story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! I loved Shane's Burden and couldn't wait to find out more about his brother, Mason, and his accident and loss of hope. Peggy definitely did not disappoint with weaving Mason's tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mason's Rescue?

I really enjoyed seeing how the characters each learned from each other and work with each other. I love how Mason opens the vet office for large animals and gives his love and sister-in-law a place to call their own in the lab.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really loved how Mason went to the vet office in the middle of the night to "pretend" being on a date. I loved him sitting in the cage, talking to, and feeding the animals.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me smile a ton.

Any additional comments?

Cody Robert's narration puts you directly in Mason's shoes. He has the perfect tone, speed, etc. to make the story soothing to listen to, just like watching out of a movie.

Veterinarians Heal Themselves

Would you listen to Mason's Rescue again? Why?

Oh yes, Mason's Rescue is just one of those stories, so well told, that I could listen to it over and over again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mr. Mike Weiker was my favorite character in this book even though he wasn't mentioned much. Mr. Weiker represents those special teachers that truly care about their students and give wise advice that can guide a young person on the right road of their future.

Have you listened to any of Cody Roberts’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Since Cody Roberts is my favorite narrator, I search out books he narrates. Cody has the talent to give each character their own personality and teamed up with author Peggy L. Henderson, the listener can't go wrong.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Actually, this book helped me find out my horse has insulin resistance since the same symptoms were mentioned in the book. Through the help of our vet, he is without pain and can be ridden again.

Any additional comments?

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves clean romance and the ways a couple find each other.
