Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise. Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

In 1992, the deadliest year in Chicago’s history, seven-year-old Dantrell Davis was shot and killed in front of his elementary school inside the public housing complex Cabrini-Green. What happened to Dantrell led to a truce among Chicago’s gangs, but it also ignited a national panic about poverty and violence in America’s cities. What is a phrasal verb? A phrasal verb is when you take a verb and add a preposition, but the new combination doesn’t mean what either the original verb or preposition mean. So when someone says, “We will bring up that topic at the meeting,” it doesn’t mean someone is going to carry something upstairs! Instead, the phrasal verb “bring up” means to discuss something.

“Dear Law Student: Here’s the truth. You belong here.” Law Professor Andrew Ferguson and former student Jonathan Yusef Newton open with this statement of reassurance in The Law of Law School. As all former law students and current lawyers can attest, law school is disorienting, overwhelming, and difficult. Unlike other educational institutions, law school is not set up simply to teach a subject. Instead, the first year of law school is set up to teach a skill set and way of thinking, which you then apply to do the work of lawyering.
