Best of a Strong Trilogy by an Excellent Author!

This one is especially well done! Not only did we enjoy it the most out of the Beka Cooper trilogy [though there Are really painful parts], but it made us want to go back and read/hear all of Tamora 's Tortall books all over again.

Awesome!!!!

Awesome!! I love Beka! She is an amazing heroine. I am sad to see her story come to an end. Hopefully Tamora Pierce will write about her children like she did with Alanna or something so we can see more of her future. Susan Denaker is a great narrator.

Plot Twist An Error

This fabulous story lost two points in my opinion due to a plot twist that was out of character and unnecessary.

Childhood favorites

When I started reading Tamora Pierce's books, it was by accident. I started with the second book in the Lioness Rampant series but that did it. I fell in love with the characters and stories. I was sad this set only had 3 books in it but it ended on the high notes I come to cherish. Twisting and turning to the end. The narrator also gave great voice to each character.

excellent series; wouldn't bought with synopsis

I enjoyed this series. It is a good conclusion. The reader is excellent as usual. I have listened to this seies multiple times before writting this review. I was sad at who one of the villians turned out to be. I hope a some short stories may be in future. Like what happened to the sneezing scent hound. Beka and her companions earned the gratitude of the crown. So why did her descendents fall out of favor? Book 01 starts with a discussion on Beka's magic passed down from her father. What happened to it? What happened to her siblings and their descendents? Did any neices or nephews get her interesting magic? What happened to the lady night and her (if any relations and descendents). There are other questions I have. I tend to be leary of series. More so in these two instances; overly long synopsis, long on author, reader praises and short on details. 2. When few details are given in the synopsis. Too many times I have been greatly disappointed.

The ultimate climax of a series

While I love each of the Beka Cooper books individually, and they are amazing on a stand alone basis, the 3 of them together with this culmination of the series is just so gratifying and wonderful. I have been a fan of Tamora Pierce since I was 12 years old and passing around the Alanna series, but Beka Cooper is most definitely my new favorite heroine of her incredible, strong women. The way that Pierce portrays her characters is so incredibly life like that you end up feeling for them, feeling with them, and leaves you crying when they cry. Susan Denaker is outstanding at doing different voices, and while I thoroughly enjoy her voice for Goodwin in the previous books, her voice for Tunstall in this one definitely shines.

An Excellent Conclusion to This Series

I read this book many years ago when I was a teenager and I was very angry with part of the ending. But know as an adult who has had more experiences, I think this is a very good ending with a few sad bits. I love this author, series and narrator and I am excited to listen to more of her books.

Best Series to reread

My husband and I just finished listening to the whole series of audio books for the 25th time.

They are just as enthralling and moving during this listen as they have been for all the others.
