About this listen

Spitfire disgrace Matthieu Boudreaux has one wish: to age out of the Pedigree he despises, then destroy it. With one year left before he achieves the first step of his goal, Matthieu finally has some hope for an independent future. That is, until a surly Amethyst dragon by the name of Geoffrey Drake and his entourage show up at Matthieu’s cloister and inform him he’s been selected to be part of an "experiment".

Geoffrey Drake, proud and stuffy legal counsel for the Amethyst clan, has been charged with ruining his own life. His mission? Deliver a potential mate to the son of the Amethyst clan’s most despised enemy - and the man he’s loved in secret for the last hundred years - Topaz dragon Ian Brand. Refusal is impossible. Dragons don’t consort with dragons, and should Geoffrey decline, he risks exposing them both.

Ian Brand, charming black sheep of the Topaz clan, is trapped between his forbidden love for an Amethyst dragon centuries his senior and his duty to his family. Chosen by his unhinged father to be the Topaz candidate for the mating experiment, Ian is faced with a terrible choice: run away with the man he loves and face the deadly consequences or accept his fate with a broken heart.

But dragon magic - as Matthieu, Geoffrey, and Ian soon discover - works in mysterious ways. When an unforeseeable circumstance draws them all together and puts their futures at risk, they have no choice but to set their differences aside and work together to prove a new, startling truth....

What the dragon world knows about mates has been wrong all along, and it will be up to the three of them to prove it.

Please note: Mate is a steamy omegaverse romance involving male pregnancy that will leave you in stitches. It contains an experiment gone awry, five eccentric peacocks, an unusually large number of whelps, an ancient Viking Daddy dragon, and science! For maximum enjoyment, Mate is best listened to following the events of Clutch and Bond.

Absolutely -Fabulous Narration

I first read or better say experienced Mate as an ebook. Found it to be a delightful, sensual , spellbinding , humorous , quirky and hot AF story .

With his spectacular narration Michael Ferraiuolo brings that experience to new highs. He gave main and secondary characters a distinctive and recognizable voice . Matching the character traits , personality and accent perfectly. It was a joy listening to his performance.

Piper Scott, Virginia Kelly and Michael Ferraiuolo together make formidable trio. Looking forward to future collaborations.

A gladly spent audio credit. 😁😀💕🙌 And that's saying a lot from a certified audio credit's hoarder like me , LOL😁😊😜

Peacocks and dragons and love - oh my!

This whole series is wonderful. I loved it and have listened to this one more than once. Michael Ferraiuolo does a superlative job bringing the characters to life and he does a great peacock. The only caveat is that I would read/listen to the books in order. However, that is no hardship whatsoever.

fFantastic

Mate, by Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly, is the third book in The Forbidden Desires. It is burning hot and just WOW Matthiey and he two Dragon mates steamed up my kindle screen. This story had drama/angst, surprises, humorous dialogue, sweet moments and sexy times with a Triad. Oh, and dont forget the whelps and peacocks! Like Clutch and Bond, this book is amazing!

Narration by Micharl Ferraiuolo. Wonderful job bringing that extra layer of enjoyment of this story to the audio audience by providing fantastic voice work and a clear recording.

Even better than I expected!

I loved this book when I read it but I love Michael Ferraiuolo's narration even more! I absolutely adore the way he is able to make distinctly different voices for each character and his peacock honk had me laughing every time. It's definitely worth thr listen and the story is very engaging and sweet too.

A fabulous continuation of the series.

Mate is the third book in the Forbidden Desires series which must be listened to in order. Each book has a thoroughly engaging storyline with characters you’ll come to love as their stories unfold. There is so much humour and originality in these books and they will lighten your heart as they unfold. As with the first two books in the series I adored Mate, and in the hands of Michael Ferraiuolo’s exceptional voice acting it was a wonderful listen. I will certainly be revisiting this entire series whenever I need a laugh out loud 5 star story.
Highly recommended.

Fine ending to a great series

I really enjoyed the first two books in the Forbidden Desires series, Clutch and Bond. I knew nothing about alpha dragons and omegas and betas before embarking upon the adventure, but was entertained while being educated. I fell in love with all the members of the Drake family and was absolutely carried away by the stories. The dialogue was snarky and snappy, the characters funny, and the plotline interesting, if not always believable. These are dragons, after all.

I went into this third book, Mate, with the same enthusiasm. There were parts of the book I loved – all my old favorite characters were back, the whelp dragons have begun to develop personalities, and there is science afoot. I enjoy science although I’m not always the best at understanding it. For readers who spend more time in the omegaverse, it probably makes more sense. Did my confusion detract from the story? No. Did I wish I understood the dynamics a bit better? Well, yes – but that’s on me. What I will say about this book is a lot of it centers around dragon politics. While some of this was fascinating, there were times when it felt like there were a lot of characters.

Now, this is where my praise of Michael Ferraiuolo comes in. The narrator is brilliant with accents and mastered Russian, French, Chinese and several others without missing a beat. He pronounced Matthieu’s French flawlessly and, of course, had just the perfect imperious tone for the dragons. All the Drakes have that haughty British-sounding accent that makes the sound superior and, frankly, it works well. With so many characters, I was impressed Michael was able to keep all the voices straight. Truly, he was fantastic.

This is a strong story, to be sure, but not my favorite of the bunch. Each to their own as I know others who have loved the conclusion to the series. I will say I liked the dynamic between the three men and their poly relationship – each man brought something unique and different to the relationship and it felt like a true triad.

It is recommended you read the other two books first if possible and I’ll echo that. As a stand-alone book it would be fine but with all the backstory, having the two others behind me helped a lot. I enjoyed this to be sure and am glad I listened to it.

So much anticipation for this story and it was amazing!

Narration: Michael continues to do an amazing job with the series. There are a ton of characters and each one sounds different. I’ve listened to this audio a ton of times and it’s one of my favorites. I’m obsessed with Michael’s narrations!

Story: Highly, highly recommend! I read through this entire 3-book series in one weekend (actually, less than two days). I just couldn't put them down. The second book is my favorite because I adore Everard and Harry so much, but this one is a very close second. I loved the main characters and their relationship. This story is a great mix of high heat and interesting story line. If you've never read a book like this, give this one a try.

This is a standalone, so you must read the previous books. Otherwise, the overarching plot won't make much sense.

New View

I love how feisty Matthieu is from the beginning. He really is the catalyst for so much change not just in the lives of Geoffry and Ian but also for dragons everywhere. I love all the new characters we got to meet in this story. There is so much to love in this story and I’m glad there will be more stories involving this world.
I listened to the audio version and loved it very much.

Lovely

In this one, we have Geoffrey and Ian, alpha dragons from different clans who have to sneak around because alpha/alpha relationships are not allowed. When it's found out that Ian will be a part of the project being run by the ever wonderful Harry, both are extremely upset. Then they meet Mathieu, who allows all three of them to become bonded. The best part of this story was the twin dragons who were both amethyst and topaz. That was awesome.

While not my favorite, this was well done and I loved Michael Ferraiuolo's narration.
