About this listen

Sex, suspense, sheer entertainment - Mcnally's Luck is Lawrence Sanders' seductive game of cat and mouse (and murder).

Playboy/lover/sleuth Archy McNally is back - and the secrets of the filthy rich have never been filthier....

What begins with a kidnapped cat leads to ransom and homicide. And if a sensuous psychic makes a believer out of McNally, he'll learn that humans don't have none lives...but scandals do.

The performer was great, especially given the author's satire and style of writing. Great story line. Not as predictable as some mysteries are. Worth a listen!

Great read/listen

A complete turn for Mr. Sanders. Whimsical character and well sorted backdrop make for an entertaining murder mystery.

Refreshing character and backdrop.

It is wonderful that this series has re-emerged in full length, nonabridged versions. This mystery (and the whole series) is set in Palm Beach amongst the rich and those that wish they were. Lawrence Sanders wrote a whole array of mysteries, some of them pretty dark.

Victor Bevine does a very nice job performing this crime novel.

This series came at the author's height when he wanted to have some fun with his playboy protagonist, Archy McNally. Archy works for his father in a "Discrete Investigations" section of his father's law firm. The rich in Palm Beach don't want the police in their personal business, so they turn to Archy. This novel is fun, and I promise you, you will find the outcome highly surprising. Along the way, you will be entertained. The great thing about this fun mystery is that Lawrence Sanders is a great writer and he can create an interesting and obscure plot. This story starts with a kidnapped cat but spirals in amazing ways.

I Love Archy McNally Mysteries and You Will Too

I like the Archie McNally character ,carrying out discrete investigations Lawrence Sanders gets into the heads or the Palm Beacher"s., The high society balls, the excess, the snobbery between old money and the vulgar
Nouveau Riche, with conspicuous consumerism, face lifts, polo ponies, raising money for the "poor" (anyone not living on ocean drive) I think it's fun to poke holes into the sheltered lives of trophy wives, the pompous husbands, the over the top homes and life styles..It is all there. How fast can you drive a Lamborghini in Jupiter, Tequesta, or Palm Beach? Maybe 60 mph. What a waste.. I know the horror of I95 at rush hour, the "season" ( November to May) when the snowbirds come to town and prices at restaurants become double, not good for us locals. We just sort of laugh behind our hands and pray for hot steamy weather, to drive them up to their summer homes. These books are not literature but satire. For me an outsider of the Palm Beach high jinx. this series is fluffy mind candy, but fun never the less .

"PALM BEACH EXPOSED"

Archy McNally should be the hero of an American basic cable TV network original series. Something like "Psych" or "Royal Pains"… like that. You know, the sort of thing you turn on when you can't find anything else and you know that they won't offend. And they don't offend reeeeely reeeeely capably.

It's good to have an Archy McNally book on your iPod, iPhone, or whatever. Heck, beats popping Xanax, right? I'll probably buy the next in this series and when I need Archy, he'll be there. This production earns a very competent 3 stars. Sanders amuses, Bevine reads it well… Life is good.

A Solid Three… Meaning, OK
