Publisher's summary

A British journalist is invited to Malmö to interview an old university friend who is now one of Sweden's leading film directors. When he discovers the director's glamorous film-star wife dead in her apartment, the Skåne County Police are called in to solve the high-profile case.

Among the investigating team is Inspector Anita Sundström, who soon finds the list of suspects growing. As Anita battles to discover the answers amid the antagonism of some of her colleagues, she even begins to think that the person she is becoming attracted to could be the murderer.

Good story ruined at the end

A good story with good characters. A nice mystery, but with a huge twist at the end. I guess the author is obsessed with ending with a big twist, but I don’t like this sort of thing. I was looking forward to a long series of stories from this author and I almost bought the next one before I finished the first one, but now I don’t intend to buy another one. Quite disappointing. Why do so many authors feel they have to end with a big twist?

A jurnalist in Malmo

many of the Swedish words were hard to understand for an native Swede and lost its point in the story. Thee twist and turns made the story fun but didn't make it credible.

A good story but an unsatisfying resolution

This book was well written and narrated. The story keeps you guessing until the very end. Alas, when the dots are finally connected, I felt that there wasn’t much of a firm basis for the revelation. I don’t know what else to say about it without posting spoilers.

Worst narrator EVER

Would you try another book from Torquil MacLeod and/or Marguerite Gavin?

I don't know about the author as I had to return due to the narrator. Her Scandanavian accents sounded Carribean and she has never stepped foot in Scotland or heard a Geordie accent. I was so confused within the first hour I had to give up

Would you ever listen to anything by Torquil MacLeod again?

I couldn't get beyond the lack of research. No English person would drink liptons tea and a northerner would always drink Yorkshire tea. Electric kettles are available in Stockholm....I know I lived there!..........research!!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Marguerite Gavin?

Someone who had at least visited the country the book was set in. Johnathon Keebler

Any additional comments?

Strictly Mediocre

No surprises. Pretty ho-hum. Don’t know how I even managed to finish it — or why! Maybe because the narration was very good.
