About this listen

In the first book of her erotic new series, Lora Leigh invites you to an intriguing world where genetically altered Breeds and the humans who created them commingle - and sometimes cross the boundaries of desire….

Cursed with the extraordinary power to feel other peoples’ emotions, Megan Fields has tucked herself away in a remote corner of New Mexico, working as a small-town sheriff’s deputy. She finds solace in the silence and heat of the desert. But when Breeds begin dying on her watch, Megan realizes that the secrets from her past can’t stay buried forever. Someone is out for blood - her blood.

An arrogant Feline Breed, Braden Arness broods with feral intensity. His mission to solve the mysterious murders brings him to Megan, a woman who accosts his senses like no other. Only with him can she let down her guard - and surrender to the insatiable hunger that wracks her body. But as they team up to hunt the elusive killers, Braden and Megan find themselves becoming the prey….

Super exciting erotic romance!

You won’t find a better book that offers all. The Breed series are excellent, but believe you could enjoy this without the others. It summarizes what’s happened. They are so good I’ve read them all & now listening to many of them again. Such great characters and super hot between the sheets are wherever the mood strikes them. Great narrator.

A little too much sex, not enough story

This book is great if you are looking for A LOT of explicit sex scenes with a little storyline thrown in. Sure, who doesn't love a good sex scene once in a while in a book? However, when every chapter has throbbing, gushing, exploding orgasms ,you tend to stop paying attention.

Also, I think that some of the writing was a bit flawed. For example, how could "her fingernails be biting into his shoulders" when he had her hands "trapped high above her head"?

Entertaining, but I think I'll skip the rest of the books.

very enjoyable

Just found Lora Leigh. Have read a few of her books..really like them. The breed series, of which, so far, I have read one and listened to Megan's Mark. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The treadmill has become more enjoyable since finding Lora Leigh.

not for me

I listened to this on the recommendation of a friend who loves the series. I like the premiss of cross species etc, and that had me thinking for awhile that I might listen to another, but in retrospect this wasn't worth the credit. The character development was weak and the attraction between the characters not quite believable - I know - it is fantasy romance, it is not supposed to be believable, but it just didn't work for me.

Decent but Someone Needed to Slap Megan

I never know what to title reviews on Audible...but when I think of this story, that’s what comes to mind first. At risk of discrediting myself by sounding like a doofus, I will say that I read/listen to a lot of this sub-genre, so maybe if you are just getting into PR, this might be a better read for you. If you’re into this sort of storyline though, do yourself a favor and go right on over the New Species series by Laurann Dohner & start from Fury!

I didn’t feel like I got very much backstory from either main character and still there were moments where I was like...do we need all these adverbs? I like adverbs more than the avg - this is romance, but balance is important in all aspects of life. The narrator didn’t do it for me, but I could’ve looked past all that if I felt some kinship with the main characters. Braedon was decent...not exceedingly memorable, but Megan was the real pain in the ***. In some moments she seems fairly bada**, but largely she’s a whiny little betch. Yeah Megan, we get that you’re empathic and that’s gotta be difficult...but to be so spineless and whiny instead of working harder to control her talents & use them for good, made me roll my eyes regularly. My rant is almost over. Last issue: in romance, I find that it’s commonly difficult for writers to find the best way to reference female anatomy - in a way that is sexier than the clinical, but not reaching crude territory. I can give some allowances in that regard, but I think the usage of “C-U-Next-Tuesday,” is a little jarring. I will go on to the next Breed book - I have heard good things, so I will continue to give it a chance but I might skip this one if I could have my 10 hrs back.

Very good!

Take the time to listen to this novel. Yes, there is sexual heat entwined in the storyline, but it does not take away from it. You have a strong, intelligent, and brave woman attempting to enhance such positives in the midst of times of chaos. You have a the same qualities in the man who loves her, and wants her to have the freedom to be the woman she is.

Spend the money, and enter their world to experience their journey.

Lora Leigh knows how to write "Hot"!!!

I fell in love with the breed series when they were a little secret pleasure and you had to know where to go to get them. Now, the breeds are seen as more main stream and what a great thing to have! I have them all in print and now there will be the audio to add to my collection. The stories are graphic, but well done. If you don't want what is considered "Hot" romance don't bother. If you love sizzle, Lora Leigh is the author for you.

Braden and Megan

This story was awesome! Extremely graphic, but very realistic! Megan was a strong female character, but still feminine. Braden was just hot. He was the perfect Alpha lion. After reading this book, I have to read the whole series.

One correction, this is not the first book in the series. It is actually the seventh.

good book

I love the breed books . I am thrilled they are available on audio. I own every single one in print. ( even the short stories and the hard to find published by ellora' s cave) The only thing is I wish they were read by a different narrarator.
