About this listen

Rae knew a good deal about Richard Ashton. Sharing his sister Judy’s flat, she'd lived for a year with his photograph: a dark, handsome, somewhat commanding young man. She'd listened to long extracts from his letters and built up a picturesque if inaccurate picture of his life in Kenya. She knew he declared himself heart-whole and had instructed his sister to find him a wife. Judy was enthusiastic. As for Rae, at least this promised to be an unusually interesting encounter.

Another wry but romantic tale by E Cadell, perfect for a Dec afternoon in a comfortable chair.

Another old-fashioned gem!

Men and Angels, has long been out of print but fortunately has been rereleased in many formats by the heirs of Elizabeth Cadell. I’m so pleased to be able to have the audible version. I do hope more of the wonderful books from this author will be become available in audio book like this one.
It’s beautifully narrated by her great granddaughter Maddy Everington. And an interesting fact: the main character, Rae, was named after the wife of the ninth century British king, Egbert.

Another wonderful listen by Elizabeth Cadell
