About this listen

Julian was in love with Alexandra, Alexandra was in love with Julian. She had no doubts about that, and being engaged to Julian was delightful. Yet, somehow, as a husband, she felt he might prove less perfect - until she had taught him the little lesson he needed. Julian learnt it in Scotland, Yorkshire, Devon, London. His mystified family looked on.

When Julian Hurst went into partnership in an art business instead of in the family firm of solicitors, his family was surprised that he made such a success of it.

They would have been still more surprised if they had known what his business trip to Yorkshire to view some Clauval paintings was to lead to.

His engagement to the delightful but mysterious Alexandra Bell, and her subsequent disappearance which led him such a dance through Scotland, Yorkshire, Devon, and London, provoked behavior which seemed odd, to say the least of it.

Note: these titles contain the original, unabridged, text exactly as the author first wrote it. Many later editions of Elizabeth Cadell's works were heavily abridged or changed. We hope you enjoy the re-issue of these timeless books. Watch for more to come in the near future!

Elizabeth Cadell!

I really enjoy Elizabeth Cadell. Unfortunately, only 3 on Audible -- in my order of preference: The Corner Shop, The Lark Shall Sing, The Cuckoo in Spring. Lots more on Kindle.

Excellent narration for a favorite book

The Cuckoo in Spring by Elizabeth Cadell is the second audio book I've listened to this week with a perfect narrator. The other was also an Elizabeth Cadell book - Iris in Winter, narrated by the very talented Alexandra Reynolds.
The Cuckoo in Spring is narrated by Elizabeth Klett who has a gorgeous voice and does wonderful English accents. This book ties with Mixed Marriage (also by Elizabeth Cadell) as one of my all time favorites.
The romance is well written and the dialogue had me laughing out loud as I listened to Julian's aunt's discourse on the subject of husbands!
Another winner that adapts beautifully to an audio version.

A favorite Cadell with wonderful recording!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Cuckoo in Spring to be better than the print version?

I like them both. :-)

What did you like best about this story?

How unexpected the story is. Cadell always manages to surprise.

Which scene was your favorite?

That would be a spoiler!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, smile and sigh.

Any additional comments?

This is such a fun story and the narration is delightful, a perfect pairing, IMHO. There's just so much to enjoy here.
