Washed up on a foreign shore, Tristan is lucky to be alive. As before, it seems to be a miracle - the Holy Grail the young Templar squire is protecting has saved his life yet again. But now he is lost in a strange land, and he doesn’t know if his friends, the fiery archer Robard Hode and the Saracen assassin maid Maryam, still survive. Tristan’s knack for getting into trouble is alive and well, though, and he quickly finds himself drawn into a conflict between a heretical band of Cathars and the oppressive King of France.

The tiny kingdom of Yurt is the perfect place - or so it seems - for someone who barely managed to graduate from the wizards' school, especially after all that embarrassment with the frogs. But Daimbert, newly hired Royal Wizard of Yurt, senses an evil spell at work. But who could be responsible? The beautiful young queen? Her flighty aunt? The dour chaplain? The old, retired Royal Wizard, who seems to know more than he's saying? Or someone from out of the castle's past?

Fun book, decent characters, but hit & miss narration
Dig the world, story and loads of fun characters created by Kiln. James Cronin's narration had some bright moments and some very awkward rough bordering on exasperating moments. Most of the characters have interesting accents, and intimations, but a few sounded a bit ridiculous ripping the listener out of the fictional world and into dumbfounded befuddlement. A mysterious mystical monk with a folksy southern drawl... Really? Overall it was enjoyable

It's slow and obvious.
The story starts out strong enough, but it just becomes painful to try and finish. The heroes keep quitting, they ignore the obvious course of action and sometimes it feel like they do the things they do just so the writer could continue the story.
