Cliffhanger!!!

Got the next book right away and I hope they finish this story line because I identify very strongly with David Chandler and Cork!!

As always William Kent Krueger with David Chandler is wonderful. Together they make the book feel very intense and personal.

Start from book one, I think this series is best in done in order. Definitely worth a credit!!

quite the series

I've never been to Aurora, Minnesota but I might have to go visit, so much seems to happen in this small town in the northern part of the state. The author has quite the imagination and has created a series, a work of fiction, that is riveting in its suspense.

You can't help but like the main character, Cork O'Conner, you feel for his wife, Jo, who seems to get the wrong end of the deal all too often, especially in this book although plenty in the beginning of the series. Throw in the Chippewa tribe, the criminals, the casino, the natural beauty and harshness of the land and the lakes or northern Minnesota and you've got quite the mix. Krueger does a great job of creating stories bringing all these elements into play.

This story begins with Cork being the target of a hit, someone is trying to kill him. Cork is quickly caught up in a couple of mysteries that keep his team and he going all out all the time. A Chicago family is brought into the scene which has its finger into big time crime and is used to getting its way. The story takes Cork and his family to Chicago and ends with Cork on the run for his life which we'll find out about in the next edition in the series. But, hey, I was going to buy the next book no matter what so I don't mind the story being continued. In fact, I already know I'll be looking forward to the rest of the series as it comes to me.

I hate to be continued

This book left me hanging. That is the only part I don’t like. I have loved the rest of the series.

Enough with the family already.

Cork O'Connor is once again the sheriff of Tamarack County and when a bullet meant for him sends one of his officers to the hospital instead, Cork is determined to find the culprit, but his time is split between cases. A man working to secure a management contract with the local casino was found murdered out on lover's lane not two nights after the attack on Cork.

Two strange cases in two days. For a man who doesn't believe in coincidence, Cork can't believe these two occurrences aren't related, but he can't see how they could be either. Not until the dead man's brother comes out to Aurora to pick up the body and Cork finds out he was once engaged to his wife. The temps may be cooling off in Tamarack County, but the intrigue is just getting ready to heat up.

I like these books and am continuing through the series. The ending is what keeps this from being a five star read for me. It trails off more than it ends. Maybe I'll get closure in the next book, but I don't like that. I want things settled. I'm also tired of things happening to his family.

Joey 3

This was a little more predictable. The book was still good due to the authors verbiage. I didn’t like the ending taking me into an epilogue. That almost wants me to stop the series .

Another mystery triumph

it's has more twists than a spiralized zucchini. The characters,as always, are so well drawn. The family realistic and loveable. And enough actions for an"action" Movie or TV series. Start with the first book in the series. I promise you won't stop until you've read them all.

What the hell happened here

I’ve been reading this series in order -last book also had som weirdness in it - can’t quite describe it but basically the story is never quite developed - you are left hanging in several places!! And the ending is totally insane dropping the ball entirely on solving 2 murders !!! Oh maybe the reader has to read an entirely new book (the next one) to figure out the murders - but that certainly doesn’t make these stand alone novels !! Ugh I’m disappointed with this book and will give the next one Copper River a try … but I’m leary :(
