Publisher's summary

A fighter. A survivor. Rebuilt through strength...

With the memories of Julian's assassination still plaguing her, Christiana returns to the royal palace, settling into her new life as a future royal. However, the palace is plunged into turmoil when young serving ladies are found brutally murdered with the use of Crimson Fire, a deadly poison created by Christiana's mentor, Marek.

With the lives of the castle's inhabitants resting on her shoulders, Christiana calls on Marek to assist in tracking down the copycat killer who mysteriously obtained a lethal secret only known to the two of them. On the journey to discovering who it is, Christiana is forced to face secrets from her past, the repercussions of her battled brain, and the many obstacles that stand in the way of her and Zander becoming the leaders they are meant to be.

Castle Killer & PTSD

Parents- R- easily +17 read. This has a very high potential for being triggering for some readers - there are several very detailed flashbacks and descriptions of violent beatings and rape. Shows active PTSD or "battle brain" attacks.
Language: language is mild with very little bad language
Violence: Fairly typical to genre, battle scenes and mild gore, descriptions of violent abuse and murders
Sexual Content- attempted rape flashbacks, rape, discussions about wedding night and PTSD triggers to touching, no sex scenes, LGBT relationships

Outside of the warning I really enjoyed this two book series. I will say that there's a definite therapeutic focus in book two with Ana dealing with new triggers and flare ups to her battle brain from killing Julian and dealing with a serial killer in the castle threatening people around her. This one is definitely darker but with a strong edge of hope, friendship, and the sweet relationship between Ana and the prince is really kind of amazing.

The narrator did a fantastic job and was fun to listen to. I felt it was a bit better at 1.25x speed but I often listen faster.

A great story

This was a great follow up to book one and had me just as excited! I loved the political intrigue coupled with the romance. I also thought the author did a really fantastic job at traversing some hard situations and real-life issues with poise and sensitivity. I liked all the different types of relationships, family etc and watching the characters grow. I loved how the book kept me questioning things and wondering what would happen next. I thought it was beautifully written and I’m excited for this author to share more. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
