Publisher's summary

This second collection of Mingo McCloud's mysteries packs a punch. In books five through eight, Mingo has more crazy going on and some cool crimes to solve too!

Book five: Fixated

Mingo McCloud has a lot going on. Dealing with his private life just got more complicated now that he and his lover, Francois, have a full-time teenager in the house. And soon, Mingo has a new foe on his hands: the banshee goddess of the Seven Bridges. Yep, only an island guy like Mingo could wind up tangling with an ancient deity in what should be a routine murder investigation.

But that’s not all. Hawaii has just passed the same-sex civil union bill. Will Francois give up his resistance to getting hitched and pop the question? And what about their son, Ferric? What does his new obsession with a teenage surfing queen have to do with a shark, bikini workouts, pole dancing and...wedding cake?

Book six: Manacled

Honolulu’s hottest forensic accountant Mingo McCloud is launching the criminal investigation he never dreamed possible. The perp? Himself.

It’s wedding bells in Waikiki, with Mingo set to marry Francois. Friends and family arrive from all over the world, and just as the intrepid pair gets ready to say “I do”, they don’t. A mysterious woman shows up at the service, claiming to be the long-lost wife of...Mingo! Needless to say, Mingo is stunned. Not the least because he’s never dated a woman, much less married one. The whole family’s in an uproar, especially when the shady lady produces wedding pictures and love letters allegedly written by Mingo. He and Francois are determined to unravel the mystery. But for Mingo, the shocks don’t stop coming when it appears he has a trail of busted female hearts behind him, as well as some serious grifting.

What the heck is going on? Is he the victim of a conspiracy, or is something else happening? Are parts of Mingo awake and doing things he knows nothing about when he’s sleeping?

Book seven: Hogtied

It’s wedding bells in Waikiki! Can Mingo and Francois finally get hitched without a...um...hitch? Of course not! Mingo McCloud, Honolulu’s hottest forensic accountant—okay, okay, he’s Honolulu’s only forensic accountant—attracts drama just getting out of bed in the morning. On the day he plans to make an honest man out of Francois, everything goes wrong. Mingo’s Best Person, his BFF Leilani Squires, goes missing, and so does her dog. Not only that, but somebody has just sent the happy couple a wedding gift that is not only ugly, but illegal, and could land them both in the pokey. And Benny Leonard also wants to hire Mingo for an explosive new murder case. Today.

Security expert Francois is irate that his lover has accepted an art piece, the ugliest one anybody ever saw that is the center of a huge international scandal. Just who is the culprit who sent it? Who wants to see Mingo and Francois in stripes so badly? Is it Mingo’s ex, Kaolin Grace? Francois is determined to solve the mystery and get Mingo down that gardenia-strewn aisle if he must hogtie him to do it.

Book eight: Captured

Somebody wants Mingo McCloud, Honolulu’s hottest forensic accountant, dead. But who? And why?

It’s only been a few months since Mingo married Francois, the love of his life, but things are going haywire. Fast.

Shenice, birth mother of their beloved son, Ferric, demands to meet Mingo, thinking Ferric is in danger being raised by two gay men. Then, the unthinkable happens.

Mingo is kidnapped and has to fight for his life. Soon, he learns he has to fight for everything important in his life.

Why has Shenice turned on them? And does this have anything to do with a missing spy who once loved Francois? A man Mingo never even knew about? And why does somebody keep coming after Mingo?

Nice book set

So, I had listened to the first set of these books sometime last year and couldn't wait until this set was available on audio. I wasn't disappointed. Although I liked the first set better than this one, I really enjoyed listening to Mingo's adventures. There was still a lot of sex involved but I think there was more story this time.

The narration was on point. John did his thing as usual.

I was given this book for free out of a book group, but I would have gladly purchased or used a credit for it

Good listen.
