Real depth tho this world and these characters

First the great: Real thought obviously went into making a world that could feel both real and fantastic at the same time.
That is rarely achieved, but Sloss nails it.

Then there are the characters. They don’t all want the same things ie... they aren’t just empty suits places to move the MC along. I appreciated that.

Finally what can I say about the great narration. They aren’t reading a book to you/ they are bringing a story and even a very world to life with the artistry of their voices.

If I had any complaints they would be : It took a while to get to the magical part of the tail / but that is probably the price of building such a deep world. That work takes time.

And finally, where is the next book. I’m jonesing for more.

Greatness Achieved

I really think this is a great beginning to a series. I love Harem LitRPG, like a lot. I also appreciate that this wasn't over sexualized, staying the perfect amount to be considered as fan service and appreciated without getting to the level of completely unrealistic situation erotica.

A big step up for Marcus and a great book!

Having read/listened too a couple of Marcus other series I feel like this one is his best to date. The writing, world building, and character development are notably better. If you enjoy the genre you'll enjoy this book. IMO this series has a high re-listenability score which is always an important measure for the price of an Audible credit. As always you can't go wrong with Dan and Rebecca. Totally worth the credit!

good

so excellent narration and interesting story but we don't get much action is more like a slice of life with some combat to make it fun also the rpg elements are pretty much useless and it takes over half of the book for the mc to finally show up at the Maze and he there for a very short time and doesn't return until pretty much the end of the book

Amazing Foundation

Dean is an honorable man who has been placed in extraordinary circumstances. From slaying a terror of the sea which should have killed him, to gaining magical abilities that he can barely understand, then gaining the attention of a diety who seems to view mortals as pawns upon the board.
This book gave a great foundation to a series which I cannot wait to read/listen more about. There was quite a bit of foreshadowing going on which leads this reader/listener to believe there are going to be bigger and better things on the horizon for our main man Dean.
In addition the female characters are not just two dimensional add ons, they all have a purpose and bring depth to the story. Though the loss of a certain pair of twins may cause a bit of trouble in the future. *cough cough*
If you like adventure based novels with a bit of base building, training and wolrd exploration. A big thank you to Marcus Sloss, Rebecca Woods, and Daniel Wisniewski for bringing this book and story to life I highly recommend this book and moving forward this series.
