Character development needs work.

I want preface this with I rarely leave reviews as I often find my thoughts already represented somewhere in the reviews post but I felt that this one needed my review.

This story takes place over at most a 5 year period and the main character despite going through many life altering events ends almost exactly the same as when he started. Despite little interaction women fall in love with him and while some of that can be attributed to the environment of the world he ends up in it doesn't flow well with the story and instead feels like a requirement that needs to be put into your creative writing essay.

If you can ignore character flaws this book is a decent world that has an interesting magic system. The performances of the readers was certainly good with it helping bring out some character development that wasn't in the writing.

Spoilers below include more in depth reasoning as to why I believe above.

Start of spoilers:

So the main character is a sociopath who feels no remorse for killing in the first 30 min of the series gets battle boners when he is done fighting and then needs to shake his lasts sometimes while still covered in gore or during the cleaning process. He gets transported to another planet where, he somehow has women fall in love with him, despite him being a jerk most of the time and solves a century's long issue within a couple days by simply asking like no one has done that before. He is a contradiction without ever getting called on it as he makes statements like women aren't property then a book later he demands an elvath become his sex slave. He claims to be humble yet proceeds to say that kings who served for decades to previous emperors aren't worth serving him. Is somehow brokenly op in combat and abilitys and yet an idiot who spaces out and makes stupid mistakes constantly while claiming he will learn without doing so. He gets told he cant do both rule and lead a squad into battle and he lets that go but is still an active decision maker somehow. He feels like a Himbo with his only redeeming qualities being that he loves his wives incredibly deeply without knowing them for more than a day in some cases. Oh and despite being an Olympian level gymnast who grew up an orphan somehow loves fishing without ever going fishing. He only seems to succeed because his opposition are idiots who underestimate him despite him killing their predecessor and being an accomplished General on Earth. Or basically he wins due to plot armor so thick a supernova would bounce off it. The magic system is interesting in that magic almost exclusively requires catalysts to work and the best sort appears to be their enemy. The idea that the ratio of women to men would become 30 to 1 in a world after a war is insane as world War 2 the deadliest conflict in human history only made it close to 2 to 1.

Can’t clear even the lowest bar

I tried hard to ignore the negatives, but the inconsistencies, plot holes, hand waving, and misogyny just added up in the end. I wasn’t expecting a lot, and got even less.

Found myself laughing out loud in my car.

The harem story was mild and explained by the imbalance in genders. Sensual scenes in this story are tame compared to many other litrpg harem series. They don't drag on and even tend to have humor in some. Unless I'm mistaken the MC is 18 so why do people complain that the story viewpoint is that of a teenager at times. As for the OP MC I just don't see it. He does alot of running and near death outcomes while people around him die. The story is fun and easy to follow, and yes it does hit slow points as any 70 hr book will. The narration was amazing and brought the humor out perfectly.

Good book

Story idea was a great idea. unfortunately thats about where it ends. the harem theme doesn't appeal to me and the over the top porno style sex scenes took away from the story. Dont rely on sex to sell your books. a good story will win out.

Not as bad as y'all are making it out to be

Personally I loved the book. Wasn't a fan of the Texas hate though. besides that it was decent. Thinking about using it as a base line for an adult d&d campaign. props to the author.

not a bad listen

First let me say this these books is for adults only. Now overall the books were good, not great but good. character development was lacking and mc was way op. MC was cast as someone who women wanted and who men want to be kind of thing. great city building story for the first 3 books. not sure if I envy Griff or feel sorry for the guy who in the heck wants 26 wives? The ending was lack luster really, it left way to many questions unanswered. narration was really good I thought they both did great, but author could have done a better job.

Must have been written by a sad man.

Story’s main mc is pretty much the dream of some kid who was bullied all his life,

He’s some over powered guy with no true morals, besides the “I gotta beat some bad guys” he’s overpowered not letting anyone get their way, aka my way or the highway, killing random people, having a huge harem, with sex scenes every chapter essentially.
Honestly this story is mid. Rushed right to early, jumping over some awesome potential at story/world building.

Honestly the sex crap and unrealistic interactions between the females and men in this is just dumb. Like a vibrating v@gina in the elves? wtf? lol

Honestly only bought series cause it was a bundle of 5 books for 1 after getting through the first 3 books, it’s just sad.
