About this listen

This radio dramatization of the classic movie features the original stars, including Edmund Gwenn re-creating his Academy Award-winning role. It aired on December 20, 1948.

The Lux Radio Theatre was one of radio's most popular series attracting Hollywood's top stars and boasting a lavish budget. It began in 1934 by featuring dramas from Broadway, but there was not enough material to support the show. In an attempt to reverse the slipping ratings, the show was moved to Hollywood in 1936, where there was plenty of material and talent. In fact, filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille often served as the host.

Great perfomances

This happens to be my favorite Christmas story right along side of A Christmas Carol. Pleasantly surprised that in such a short time, the whole story was told and was so much like the movie. I would definitely recommend this "audio recording" to everyone.

Great for radio

Honestly prefer the motion picture. As a child, we watched Miracle on 34th Street every Christmas. It was aired as was White Christmas. Some of the old times should come back.

Almost like the movie!

Great cast/performances by all. It even had the original commercials interspersed through the 3 act play. Loved the commercials but I wish it did not cut out parts of the story lines. All in all a wonderful story that brought back a flood of memories of my mother and sister watching this classic on tv.

Vintage version!

From an old radio program and it’s been abridged to make it into a script. (The commercials are fun, too. ) However, keep in mind that you may prefer to purchase this classic read in its entirety by a narrator.

Pleasant blast from the past

Nice adaptation of the classic Christmas film and I was surprised to see that 3 of the film actors participated in it.
