Publisher's summary

On a cold Southern night in 2013 under a full moon, 20-year-old Heather Elvis parked her car at a boat ramp along the Intracoastal Waterway and was never seen again.

The disappearance of the beautiful, vivacious hostess at the popular Myrtle Beach, South Carolina made international headlines and triggered a sweeping high-stakes investigation that exposed a twisted web of deception, betrayal, sexual obsession, police corruption, and revenge. But Heather's body was never located.

A series of sensational trials involving a handsome restaurant coworker and his Disneyland-obsessed wife resulted in shocking verdicts - but no body - as her family desperately sought closure and fought for justice, and a resort town struggled to regain calm.

Excellent coverage of a chilling case…

I was pleasantly surprised having learned a lot about this case already from the usual true crime sources but only just recently, many years later. Although unrevealed by me here, there’s nothing diminished in knowing the story ahead of time. Plus there were details contained either missed or not covered as well. Here the facts are presented without the insult of bias that presumes we aren’t able to think for ourselves in a style of writing and narration that is smooth and easy on the ears… I thoroughly recommend.

Suspenseful

A suspenseful story that will keep you listening. With the Narrator’s help you’ll be drawn into the story. You’ll keep wondering how this could possibly happen. Loved it.

Looking forward to more from this author

The facts of this true crime story were well presented, with good research and capable prose. The narrator's performance is good but unpolished. The biggest issue for the narrator is the production, which features background noises at times and simply does not have a clean sound. I look forward to more from this author. If the production issues are solved, I will look forward to more from the narrator.

True story

I did not realize this was based on at true story until about two hours in. Than I had a whole new out look. I usually don’t read true stories. But this one got my attention as a fellow Disney fan I got my curiosity and held it to the end I hope one day the family gets closer. Quality of the audio recording is OK sometimes you can hear background noise and bumps into the mic. Also sounds like it’s in a tin can at some points. Overall put together great

If true crime non-fiction is your genre this is a must read

Great research on a suspenseful case

In this captivating story, true crime author Michael Fleeman shares the unfortunate path traveled by a promising twenty year old from South Carolina that tragically ended in a love entanglement with the wrong guy. As the title suggests, the victim disappeared in December 2013, and is presumed dead. Heather Elvis seemingly became obsessed with Sidney Moorer, a married 37 year old maintenance man, a married man and third children. The author untangles this complicated love triangle, and outlines the trials of Moorer and his wife Tammy on charges they kidnapped the attractive young lady. This book definitely held my interest throughout.

Narration

The narration on this story was not very good. First off, he sounded like he was in a barrel. He stumbled over many words while reading and mispronounced many. Didn’t sound very professional. The story kind of hopped around all over the place and there was a lot of reading from court transcripts which can be tedious.

Good Subject Matter

I have never heard of this case,

The author does a decent job of outlining enemy's.

Sometimes the story is repetitive and an get boring by this.

The narrator has a really good voice but the mouth noises, background sounding like flowing water, and the tinney effect of most of the chapters made it near impossible to listen to.

I would suggest this narrator get some beta readers and more technical knowledge.

Poor Heather

Missing… and Presumed Dead writen by Michael Fleeman & narrated by Kelly Ryan Wilmoth. This book tells the story of 20-year-old Heather Elvis going missing. I must admit after listening to this book I googled the case and couldn’t believe I never heard about it. The narrator did an okay job and the book was spot on with the articles I came across during my google search. For the most part I felt like I was listening to a documentary. This book hit me as an eye opener, it made me feel like calling to check on my relatives. I can’t imagine what the Elvis family went through and I hope one day they find peace. I received this book via promo and that has no influence on my review of this book.

Still Missing

Missing...and Presumed Dead
By: Michael Fleeman

This is a true crime disappearance of twenty year old Heather Elvis. When she first went missing most people feel like she is a perfect innocent young girl. As time and

investigation go by it's shown she was more worldly and hd been involved with a married man almost twice her age.

Several of the police officers were found to be corrupt. That had an effect on the retrial of Sydney Moore after the first hung jury. The second trial delivered a

conviction for him on kidnapping charges. Tammy Moore went on trial for kidnapping and conspiracy. They both ended up in prison but not for murder. I hope the Elvis

family will someday find peace.

The police arrest the man she was involved with and his wife. They tried them separately.

The narration was well done. Kelly Ryan Wilmoth did OK, but seemed he would stumble here and there with a mispronunciation. His voice was good for this genre.
