Publisher's summary
The New York Times and Wall Street Journal best seller about how Mitch McConnell has been bad for Kentucky - and why he needs to be voted out of office from the founder of Kentucky Sports Radio and attorney Matt Jones.
They say all politics is local. In 2020, Mitch McConnell will have served five full terms as a US senator. Thirty years. The Senate Majority leader's power is as undeniable as it is infuriating, and the people of Kentucky have had enough. Led by Matt Jones, they (and they alone) have the power to oust him from office.
How did Jones, a local boy turned attorney turned sports radio host come to shine the brightest light on McConnell's ineptitude? Simple - he knows Kentucky inside and out and has used the state's love of sports as an entry point for showcasing how McConnell has failed his fellow citizens both economically and socially for three decades.
Entertaining, maddening, yet ultimately inspiring, these stories from Kentuckians in each of its 120 counties illustrate the Senate Majority leader’s stunning shortcomings.
“Jones employs a sharp, political scalpel eviscerating McConnell...[and this book is] an effective combination of description and vivisection.” (Kirkus Reviews)
Jones brings his trademark wit and wisdom throughout the book, while also offering a beautiful portrait of a state with arguably the most untapped potential in our country.
Ultimately, the white-hot hatred for McConnell on the coasts is just white noise. Only the people of Kentucky can remove him from office. Here, Matt Jones demonstrates he has the influence, charisma, and institutional knowledge to lead the charge. He and his fellow Kentuckians have had enough - and they’re ready for a fight.

Competitors desperate to crack his betting techniques have tried hacking his phones, cloning his beepers, rifling through his trash, and bribing his employees.

A reporter for The National Observer, Nina was curious about Ruth’s legal brief, asking the Supreme Court to do something revolutionary: declare a law that discriminated “on the basis of sex” to be unconstitutional. That call launched a remarkable, nearly fifty-year friendship.

Al Franken, Giant of the Senate is a book about an unlikely campaign that had an even more improbable ending: the closest outcome in history and an unprecedented eight-month recount saga, which is pretty funny in retrospect. It's a book about what happens when the nation's foremost progressive satirist gets a chance to serve in the United States Senate and, defying the low expectations of the pundit class, actually turns out to be good at it.

Story
In the year leading up to the Iowa caucuses, few thought a freshman senator named Barack Hussein Obama would be able to win the Democratic nomination - not to mention become the most popular leader in the world. But something was stirring. Hundreds of young people from all over the country began assembling first in Iowa. These "kids" became the foundation of one of the most improbable presidential campaigns of the modern era. Chris Liddell-Westefeld was one of those kids. He and thousands of other staff and volunteers dedicated their time, intelligence, and resources to help elect Barack Obama.

Let’s talk about secession. Not exactly the most suitable cocktail party conversation starter anywhere in the country, but take that notion deep into the heart of Dixie and you might find yourself running from the possum-hunting conservatives, trailer-park lifers, and prayer warriors Chuck Thompson encountered during the two years he spent traveling the American South asking the question: Would we be better off without ’em?

Story
Do you remember your first time? People tend to remember the moment they first heard The Rush Limbaugh Show on the radio. For Zev Chafets, it was in a car in Detroit, driving down Woodward Avenue. Limbaugh's braggadocio, the outrageous satire, the slaughtering of liberal sacred cows performed with the verve of a rock-n-roll DJ-it seemed fresh, funny and completely subversive.

My Old Kentucky Home!
If you love the combination of great story telling, combined with a beautiful depiction of the people who live in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the real negative impacts of our current broken political system, then this book is for you. Matt Jones and Chris Tomlin take an amazing journey through every KY county meeting the people who live there and learn how Sen. McConnell has failed them. This is an amazing book that every voter in America should read.

Superb book and a great book about KENTUCKY!!
The book validated my thoughts about American politics today. Matt is a great storyteller and Chris” sometime snarky comments had me laughing. It’s a shame so many love Mitch. I’m in Louisville (but Go CATS) and never have voted for Mitch. I was enlightened to the inner workings and it makes me so angry! I would listen to a chapter and then rant and rave to my family. They were happy when I finished! The best part was learning about MY State and its people. I am so proud and now understand why they vote the way they do. I now am looking to get involved locally. Thanks Matt and Chris and all those who supported these guys as they traveled our beautiful state. For my fellow Kentuckians - Let’s get it right in 2024! No Trump, No Mitch, vote for term limits and maybe lower the age of the President; and for Chris, a President who isn’t a criminal. Love you guys and Thanks!

Love it!
I’m from Kentucky and loved hearing about each of the different counties in the state. But even if you’re not from Kentucky it’s very interesting. One of my favorite parts is the foot notes by Chris Tomlin. Very entertaining!

I knew I could not stand Mitch McConnell and I could not imagine that my feelings could intensify. I was wrong. He is clearly the absolute worst.
