About this listen

Caleb has spent the last six months adjusting to life possessed by the vampire spirit Gray. Unfortunately, after the events of Fort Sumter, the other agents of SPECTR view him more as a ticking time bomb than a co-worker.

The one bright spot is Caleb and Gray's boyfriend, federal exorcist John Starkweather. But John has problems of his own. A supernatural killer is on the loose in Charleston, stealing the hearts of its victims to extend its own unnatural life.

With the help of a rookie agent, John, Caleb, and Gray must find the killer before it strikes again...or before they become the demon's next victims.

Loved seeing Caleb, Grey and John back in action!

They now have a new boss who doesn't trust them, coworkers who harass them, and a starstruck, shiny new partner.

They are chasing after a hard-to-catch NHE and getting into all sorts of trouble.

You should really read the SPECTR 1 series before tackling his one.

Great continuation of the SPECTR series!

Do not start this series before reading the previous series because the author writes stories in depth and this history is, in my opinion, necessary to really enjoy this current story. The author is a great writer and I have so totally loved and enjoyed her books and am about to listen to the other two in this series.

Lots of fun

This is the best book in the whole series so far. Fantastic fantasy with the oddest characters but lots of fun admidst the SPECTR policing.

I am thrilled to have a second SPECTR series. John, Caleb and Gray are now working together at SPECTR. After all that happened at the end of the first series, you would hope things would be a little better for Caleb/Gray. No. A new boss and old prejudices make for an unpleasant atmosphere, add in a new partner fresh out of academy and a heart stealing NHE and you have the makings of an action packed story with Ms Hawks signature sense of humor, well defined characters and a romance that I adore. The new partner, Zahira is wonderful. Smart, determined, and very likable. The narration by Brad Langer is great and I have enjoyed all the SPECTR audiobooks he has narrated. Highly recommended!

A wonderful new SPECTR story!

Great series

With this series, I had already accepted that there were a few plot holes I could happily ignore because everything else was so engaging and well written I was hooked. My manufactured drama rating was consistently at around a 3 out of 5, which for me is on the high side of acceptable. This book, however, is a 5+. Everyone is out to get them. The MCs are always blamed for things that aren't their fault and no one thinks this is odd, questions it, or takes any steps to resolve the problem. MCs constantly second-guess themselves and the amount of internal-monologuing about issues causing miscommunication drama is at a 5+ as well. I loved this series so far and it sucks that the author got lazy on book #7.

Unexpected disappointment
