About this listen

Dirty Harry meets Twilight. Number 3 in the break-out series and a follow-up to Monster Hunter International and Monster Hunter Vendetta.

Earl Harbinger may be the leader of Monster Hunter International, but he's also got a secret. Nearly a century ago, Earl was cursed to be a werewolf. When Earl receives word that one of his oldest foes, a legendarily vicious werewolf that worked for the KGB, has mysteriously appeared in the remote woods of Michigan, he decides to take care of some unfinished business. But another force is working to bring about the creation of a whole new species of werewolf. When darkness falls, the final hunt begins, and the only thing standing in their way is a handful of locals, a lot of firepower, and Earl Harbinger's stubborn refusal to roll over and play dead.

I just finished Monster Hunter Alpha. Larry Correia Just keeps getting Better. His first Monster Hunter Book was Good but every book he writes seems twice as good as the last. Larry writes Characters you care about Not 2 Dimensional paper cut outs. Not saying he is not Corney or cliche But very entertaining
and fun. I can't wait for the next installment.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is great stuff. Exciting, funny, action. Really enjoyable.

What other book might you compare Monster Hunter Alpha to and why?

.

Which scene was your favorite?

Too many to choose from.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I've got two rules: leave humans alone, and don't get on my bad side.

Any additional comments?

Didn't think I would enjoy this so much, but yeah, Earl Harbinger has great personality.

EXCELLENT!!

If you could sum up Monster Hunter Alpha in three words, what would they be?

I strongly recommend this book. I really enjoyed the first two in this series andthe fact that they are all audible, it really makes my 2 hour drive to and from work a pleasurable time.

Monster Hunter is "GREAT"

I'm a teacher, and it's my policy to NOT give any 100%s for work done by anyone especially me. ( I figure there's always room for improvement.) This series is entertaining, just think about the scene as in an alternate reality. If you're interested about more of my thinking, read my review of "Monster Hunters International". Thank you.

Just when you thought it was safe . . . etc.

I've read several series within the werewolf genre. Monster Hunter was fun because it took more of a military action format. I really enjoyed the characters, the story line and the (spoiler alert) cliff hanger ending. I will definitely follow up with another book from this series. What I didn't realize initially is that Monster Hunter Alpha is actually book 3 in the series. The first title in the series is The Monster Hunter International and the second is Monster Hunter Vendetta. Good reading.

Fun Moster Fiction

Great book

Excellent writing and narration once again. This book takes a little detour from the first two books but a good listen anyways. Good story just not quite as funny as the previous.

Slightly Different

I liked the story it was very 30 Days of Nightish, but the constant change of perspective gave me mental wipe lash. If you like the series it is a must read, or if you are in the mood for a PG survival horror it will do as well.

Good but....

Would you listen to Monster Hunter Alpha again? Why?

The entire Monster Hunter Series is a series I wish I could listen to again for the first time. This story is phenomenal, complete, telling, suspenseful, and makes us love Earl even more, if that is possible.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Earl is my favorite character because of his integrity, strength, and how complex a character he is.

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have to speed the audiobook to 1.5 to make Wyman's delivery sound good. He is a slow reader who needs to speed it up a bit, but the speed option on my phone app works perfectly.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was indeed moved by Earl's last encounter with Nicoli (spelling?) and the bloodline that continued through their complex relationship

Any additional comments?

This, at first, was not what I thought I would enjoy as much as the first two books, but ended up being my favorite of all the series to this point. KEEP WRITING LARRY!!
