About this listen

A monster lurks in the lake, haunting those who do evil. A novel of youth corrupted and innocence lost.

Angie moved with her father from St. Louis to the deep south town of Moon Lake, Mississippi. The lake was huge and peaceful, but the high school wasn't very friendly and Tyeson Dompier thought he owned the lake and everyone who lived around it. He wanted Angie for himself the way he'd had every girl he wanted, but his cruelty ruined everything.

In the lake a monster lurked, lying in the weedy bottom, waiting the time it was needed to search out those who committed unforgivable sins. It was the monster of retribution, the hands of justice meted out to those born of evil.

Angie and Tye begin a dance of revenge, death, and one of them will pay the ultimate penalty. One of them will face the lake creature's wrath....

Wow, what a ride this was.

Would you consider the audio edition of Moon Lake to be better than the print version?

Ive only heard this story in Audio and it was really good. Commodore James has a great voice for this book, although, the southern accent was not quite right, I wish that had been refined a little more for this reading.

What did you like best about this story?

It had me spooked, sad, and cheering. Just what I was looking for.

Have you listened to any of Commodore James’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

My first listen of his narration. I could easily choose another of his.

Who was the most memorable character of Moon Lake and why?

Tyeson. Yes, he was the villian in this book but I felt that his insanity, due to genetics and his position in the community as a family member of such a prominent family was overlooked, ignored and forgotten in his damaged mind. Allowing him to torture and abuse anyone he chose and get away with it. By humans anyway.
