About this listen

JAMES BOND INVESTIGATES A VILLAIN WITH THE POWER TO LAUNCH A NUCLEAR WARHEAD

Sir Hugo Drax is a multimillionaire tycoon and war hero, revered by the British public for his new Moonraker missile defense system. But there’s more to this enigmatic millionaire than he lets on. When M suspects Drax of cheating at cards, he is baffled that the patriot would risk his reputation and his rocket program on a game, so he assigns Bond to infiltrate Drax’s circle.

As 007 probes the activities at the Moonraker base in the days leading up to the beloved rocket’s maiden launch, he learns the truth about Drax’s battle scars, his wartime allegiances—and his murderous plans for the deployment of Moonraker.

Outstanding production and narration

The narrator pulled me right into the story and the production was flawless. Can’t wait for the next in the series from this group.

A bit long-winded but, hands down better then the movie..

This is my first time listening to an audiobook and actually my first time listening to an Ian Fleming novel. I've watched all of the James Bond movies and while Moonraker is typically panned by a lot of its core audience I find it rather charming. granted by the end I'm tuned out because they are trying rip off star wars.. but as far as the novel of the movie goes is a very different beast. I think the book is much better than the movie I wish the movie would have kept more in line with the book instead of going to space. The book is more grounded, it's a good listen. I highly recommend I think it's way better than the movie. I think it is a bit long-winded there's a lot of extra detail but it's like I guess you kind of need it to paint the scenes so to speak and to fill in the gaps but I felt like more or less a lot of the added exposition and add a detail just was just to make the book longer. That's all I felt it did it just made the pages longer than it needed to be and a lot of it could have been edited out I mean this is really at its core like a 5-hour book but they added so much miscellaneous detail to it that they turned it into an 8-hour book. Also got psyched out by the performance saw the name "Alex" thinking it would be a man reading but nope it's actually a woman reading it. (not that there's anything wrong with that just caught me off guard)
