Publisher's summary

It doesn't feel right. It doesn't feel wrong. It just...feels.

EJ Cunning, an art history major, dates musicians. Foster Blake, a chemical engineering major, can't sing a tune. They're not each other's type. They're coworkers.

Then, one night leads to sex - sex between friends - which leads to an agreement. It all seems so simple - but nothing ever is.

Many layers build a person's façade.

Look into the depths for what's hidden within.

It's more than water. It's a story - a living and breathing substance beyond the reflective surface.

A great story with great narration.

Any additional comments?

I had actually purchased the Kindle eBook of More Than Water by Renee Ericson in October 2015. I hadn't read it yet, so it was the perfect time for me to do so, while adding audio narration to it!

I really enjoy my Kindle books that I have added audio narration to. The narration seems to give the story added depth and bring it to life more. Plus, there's the added bonus of being able to LISTEN if you can't read - in the car, while going for a walk - you get the picture.

More Than Water focuses on Evelyn, or EJ as she likes to be called, and Foster. EJ is an art history major, while Foster is a chemical engineering major. They are total opposites. But while working together at the campus library, they begin a friendship that develops into something more - friends with benefits.

As with any relationship, EJ and Foster have their ups and downs. And while Foster soon becomes one of the few people that truly knows EJ as a person and not for her family's stature, he is also hiding his true self from her.

I enjoyed the story of More Than Water as a whole. It had a "punch you in the face" moment when the title made sense, and although I found some situations predictable, I was definitely cheering for EJ and Foster the whole way through. As the story progressed, the feels were certainly there, leaving me with the fluttery happy feeling at the very end.

Meghan Kelly did a wonderful job of narrating this story. The tones she used for the different characters were consistent throughout the recording. Her voice was easy on the ears, enjoyable to listen to and definitely made my reading experience a lot more rewarding.

Loved it!

They say opposites attract and this is definitely the case with E.J. and Foster. I loved the personal growth that E.J. goes through. The inspiration of Foster leads her on her own path of breaking away from her parents expectations and into the life she has dreamed of. Renee Ericson delivers a delightfully, steamy tale. One part in the story that left me with goosebumps and my heart melting. Meghan Kelly keeps the listener engaged and gives an outstanding performance.

very good

very good story a different view on who the characters are, very deep and well created.
The story it self is not new braking from over controling parents (mother) and find your self and love while you are at it.
I really enjoyed listening and can recommend this book to all love story lovers.

A wonderful blend of sweet mixed with angst

Any additional comments?

If I based my rating off the narration alone this would have rated much lower. She just didn't sound genuine to me, and her inflections were off at times. Luckily, for this book, narration is only a small part of my rating. I should have read this one, but to be fair I did get the audible version for free from Audiobook boom, if only there is way to know if a book should be read vs listened…things that make you go hmmm…E.J. and Foster's story is adorably sweet, in a big bang sort of way. If only we could all have are FWB's end up being the one…on second thought, maybe I don't need that. Anyway, the story itself is well worth the read…notice I said read…

I am going to say the bar scene, where EJ meets Foster and his friends by chance...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was...

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

This was a fun story...Ej and Foster, met by chance, working at the library together....Both of them coming out of bad ending relationships and not really looking for anything new and serious...That changes one night, when they meet by chance at a bar and start playing drinking games with his friends...they fall into a friends with benefits kind of situation and before either one of them know it, its more..Foster backs off trying to deny it...but finally confesses his love for Ej at his friends wedding that they attend as friends...and from there they become more...

GREAT STORY AND REALLY GOOD NARRATION...I ENJOYED THIS 100%

Fantastic Story! Fantastic Narration & Listen!🎧

This is an amazing novel & audiobook, it grabs you from the start and holds you captive until the very end. It is well written & well told, has great storylines and character development. I just loved EJ, she has so much personality, is smart, sassy and full of life. Foster, the male lead, is a bit more reserved, is full personality too, just takes a while for it to show. I loved the chemistry between them, as well as the build up to their romance. Renee Ericson penned a beautiful friends to lovers romance. There are some heartfelt moments, some laughs, drama and of course love. Thank you for this great story.

I listened to the Audible edition, narrated by the amazingly talented Meghan Kelly! She brings a lot to this story, sets the perfect tone and adds the right amount of dramatic flair which brings to the story and it’s characters to life from the pages to your ears. She performs the voices of all the characters, gives each a distinct sound making it easy to follow the back and forth dialogue which she does effortlessly and without missing a beat. Meghan Kelly’s skillful narration enhances an already great story to a higher level of enjoyment. Thank you for another great listen!!

More than I expected!

From the description of the book I had no idea whether or not I would like the book but as it turns out, I did! The book begins with typical YA college situations and doesn't hint at the depth of feeling of the heroine, EJ. She reveals herself slowly as the story progresses and I found her character, as well as that of the hero, Foster, believable. Foster does not reveal much at all about himself to us which makes the ending much more of a surprise and I found it delightful to experience the progression of their relationship through it all. The book had a much more sensual feel brought out through the artistic nature of EJ. On the contrary, the science of attraction was analyzed because of Foster's observations.
Overall, the book kept my interest and I lost sleep over wanting to finish! The narrator was good also. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone looking for a YA with a bit extra depth.

Sweet New Adult Romance

Any additional comments?

***This audiobook was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review ***

This was a nice easy romance book - and I liked that it moved right into the story and kept the reader going. SO MANY BOOKS just drag at the beginning - and you realize you could have flipped to chapter 2 or 3 and not missed a darn thing. Don't worry - THIS is not that kind of book.

It ticked all the contemporary New Adult romance boxes:
Set around college life
Main Character has an obligatory gay BFF
Main Character has an obligatory straight female BFF
Hero & Heroine hook up as no-strings F buddies
...But of course they become much more - and that works! The book is a really nice read.

I rated with only 4 stars because the ending was sort of abrupt. There is a Reveal where the H/h separate - and when they do reconnect it literally wraps it up in a sentence. One of the characters has Issues With Parent -- and that goes on throughout the book but at the very end it's like a fairy godmother showed up and dumped something on Parent's head because: suddenly tada, Solved.

The narrator is good, has a pleasant voice, but the sound would soften/fade for a few minutes at a time then be back to normal. Not terrible but at first I thought my headphones must be dying or something, then I had to adjust the sound up until the next time that the audio righted itself.

****I just saw reviews for the ebook version on Amazon and readers say there was a bonus chapter that wrapped up the ending to their satisfaction. Good to know! It must have become available after the Audio version was already created? In any case, you DO still enjoy the story.

A Predictable Book - Saved By Sarcasm & Performer

I found "More Than Water" entertaining, romantic and fun. The constant sarcasm held my interest, if it hadn't been for Meghan Kelly's performance, I may have given up on the book as it was rather predictable. However, as my interests would start to wane, the author through out a sarcastic line which made me snicker.

By my reviews, you will find that I cast Meghan Kelly as one of my favorite, top three narrator/performers. Her performance for this book solidifies her place. Wonderful, near perfection, fantastic!

*I was asked to listen to this book in exchange for an unbiased review. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys quick thinking, sarcastic based story line. It probably would not be something for one who doesn't appreciates sarcasm.

Notes: Mature themes & some strong language

Rating: R
Performance 5 stars, story 3.5 stars, overall 4 stars

Please consider "following me" here on Audible.com. I purchased a lot of books by authors that I am faithful to. I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators. Thanks!
