About this listen
Follow the clues. Question reality.
The truth may be darker than anyone imagined.
When a group of friends vanish under mysterious circumstances, the only clues about what happened are found in a logbook maintained by a man named Mori, who is suspected of involvement in their disappearance.
Mori's logbook paints a picture of a solitary man drinking to forget his past and the family he abandoned. One night, he is shaken from his hazy daze by a disembodied voice calling from "across the Cosmic Gulf," asking him to help find a missing woman.
Obsessed and afraid that he may be losing his grip on reality, Mori's otherworldly investigation leads him to his captivating neighbor—a radiant woman with a troubled past—and her effortlessly cool, young friends. Each has their own reasons for joining his strange quest, and together they navigate a labyrinth of uncanny phenomena across modern-day Los Angeles.
At the heart of the mystery, they suspect an elusive serial abductor lurks. But what they uncover is something darker still.
Now all of them are gone. And this book is all that's left.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Story
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
Making a place for yourself in a world where you don’t belong takes courage. So does moving in with a warlock. Especially one who is a cauldron of seething anger on his worst days…half-mad on his best…who is thinking, perhaps, of killing you. Waterspell tells the story of the lost traveler, Carin, who is drawn into the schemes of a hot-tempered, emotionally damaged wizard. Does he view her as nothing more than an expendable weapon in his fight to save his world from lethal alien plagues? Or will Lord Verek find himself wavering when it comes time to dispose of his water-sylph?

I loved everything about this book
I'm not quite sure how to review this, other than to say this is one of my favorite books of all time. I didn't want to waste a second of it. If you are at all intrigued by the book description, don't mind some language (I personally was in hysterics when a mysterious entity "keeps calling him a MF-er for no reason", If you thrive on character growth, redemption, alternative realms and the power of friendship...I think you will really enjoy this. I was elated when I saw there will be a book two, because I truly adore these characters. Thank you, for this wonderful gift.
