About this listen

In this terrifyingly twisted thriller, a young couple discovers the horror held within their newly purchased dream house.

It’s the house of their dreams. Former marine Harry and his wife, Sasha, have packed up their life and their golden retriever, Dash, and fled the corporate rat race to live off the land in rural Idaho. Their breathtaking new home sits on more than forty acres of meadow, aspen trees, and pine forest in the Teton Valley. Even if their friends and family think it’s a strange choice for an up-and-coming pair of urban professionals, Harry and Sasha couldn’t be happier about the future they’re building, all by their lonesome.

That is, until their nearest neighbors, Dan and Lucy Steiner, come bearing more than housewarming gifts. Dan and Lucy warn Harry and Sasha of a malevolent spirit that lives in the valley, one that with every season will haunt them in fresh, ever-more-diabolical ways. At first, it seems like an old wives’ tale. But when spring arrives, so does the first evil manifestation, challenging everything Harry and Sasha thought they knew about the world.

As each season passes, the spirit grows stronger, the land more sinister, and each encounter more dangerous. Will Harry and Sasha learn the true meaning of a forever home before it’s too late? Haunting and bone-chilling, Old Country is a spellbinding debut in the horror genre.

Both the female and male characters are very fleshed out. I loved the scenes when the couple interacted.

The male character’s history as a veteran felt so lived in, a ton of interesting details.
Also the scenes of the couple’s home life were warm and realistic.

BEST BOOK EVER!

The writing was divine. The narration was good. The premise was fresh and well executed. There hasn’t been a book in years that I found hard to put down, but this was one. Reminds me of Stephen King at his best. Sooooooooooo good. I was completely bummed when I found it was their first book. GUYS!! Hurry up and write another one.

Old Country

At the end the Arthur stated “share this suspense. That is putting it mildly. This story was full~filled with action and much more than suspense. Don’t let yeh title fool you. I could hardly put it down. I had to force myself to take breaks to absorb what I was listening to, being a Vietnam Veteran, I went through some of this myself. I was not killing, but trying to save lives as I was a Medic, Unless one was a medic, they can not compare the two.

The one thing I really liked about this is you never had to wonder who was talking. Each chapter starts off stating that name of who was now talking.

This is in my opinion, a great story and I entendres to look further to find other Audio books by this Arthur Note:: This book is not suitable for children , or those with a weak stomach.

Unique story

Great read! If you read enough of one genre, it gets to the point where the stories seem repetitive. I have never read a story like this one. I had no idea what was coming next. It was engaging and gave me chills. Would highly recommend this book to horror/suspense fans.

I Liked It!

Because it had Native American lore, because it wasn't a sappy love story, because it spoke to me about the land, family, love of home and other and acceptance.
A very well balanced story with heart.
Bravo.

Artful use of tension

I also liked how the story unfolded, it felt very organic and believable. I was interested in the characters and the stories they told.
Others here did not like the ending but it made perfect sense to me.
I really enjoyed this book, first gamble in a while that paid off!
