About this listen

The sequel to the number one Audible Best Seller Earthcore.

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of the Generations Trilogy comes the second book in the Sun Symbol series, an epic story of lost civilizations, redemption, and immeasurable treasure.

With shades of Tom Clancy, Stephen King, and James Rollins, Mount Fitz Roy continues the tale of Patrick O’Doyle and Bertha Lybrand, who were part of the horror show that occurred far below the mountains of Utah. They learn that the "mother of all motherlodes” discovered there was not unique, that there is another deposit similar to it three miles beneath the towering peak of Cerro Chaltén on the disputed border between Chile and Argentina.

O'Doyle, a middle-aged former member of a disgraced black-ops unit, gets his aging team back together to go after this fortune. Funded by the mining company EarthCore, he, Bertha, and his crew of 40-something operators try to turn back the clock long enough to make them all richer than their wildest dreams.

But three miles below the surface, where geothermal temperatures will cook you alive, something is waiting. Waiting, and guarding. This time, O’Doyle is well-prepared and well-armed - if he survives, he will be set for life, and he will have his revenge for the Utah massacre.

best book of 2020

This is a masterpiece! What a wonderful read! I went into this book with high expectations, and Sigler exceeded them all. it's a rare thing to read a book that is defined as sci-fi, yet have aspects real enough to question its plausibility. this and earthcore are must reads.

you will LOVE THIS!

Bertha issues the most solid advice ever and I'll take this moment to pass it along: let's get out and stretch while we can!

If you haven't read the Infected trilogy, Ancestor, Earthcore, Nocturnal and the rest of Scott's stuff, really, go do that NOW! you will thoroughly enjoy the awesome strings Mr Sigler ties in from those stories.

Scott Sigler amazes me with his humble demeanor after writing this epic masterpiece. really, he must have acute humbleitis since he didn't go wiggle his writing rooster in King's face! this is the best book of 2020!

If you had a chance to catch the preview in the Junkiecast, there is a tiny bit of repeat for that. otherwise it is a story knocked up, beaten and abandoned by an alcoholic meth head stepdad of new and surprising twists. reading this book will hurt your human spirit and rescue it with a lasso of Bertha's sex toy torture.

Only one complaint: ◆◆◆◆ ◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆ ◆◆◆◆◆ ◆◆ ◆◆◆◆ ◆◆◆ ◆◆◆◆ ◆◆◆ ◆ ◆◆◆◆◆◆! (no spoiler rule)

WOW!

First, listen to Earthcore, the first book of the series. Second, I recommend listening to the Infected series and Ancestor, both works are reference here.

Now there are many things I liked about this novel. One being the thoughtful titling of the chapters, the few words told me a lot. Another, for me, is the "no character is safe" approach. In other books I've read, characters get into impossible situations and, of course, get out of them, here you honestly don't know. Even the whole " Hate the bad guys wait love the bad guys wait who are the bad guys" trope.

And Ray Porter is phenomenal!!!

Highly recommend!

Brilliant!

Others have said it already. Read this book! One caveat: This is the second in the series, so make sure you've read Earth Core first.

a sequel better than the original

I enjoyed Earthcore, so jumped on this book. I was thrilled on how good this was. The narrator gives a incredible performance. This book does what all good sequels do, it expands the story. However, I can honestly say this book is better than the source material. You don't even need to have read Earthcore to enjoy this novel. A great story.

Triumph of Storytelling

What a great read/listen! While I loved Earthcore, I think this is the rare sequel that is better than the original. Perhaps this is because Earthcore was one of Scott Sigler's first books and he has so many other books under his belt now. This book has several new and instantly relatable characters. While this book has plenty of action, it's also full of humor, science, technology, romance, friendship, and even fun references to other science fiction classics. The plot is tight. Ray Porter does a great job with the narration too! You won't be disappointed.
