About this listen

Darcy and Elizabeth are about to learn how “necessity” never makes a fair bargain.

When ELIZABETH BENNET appears on his doorstep some ten months after her refusal of his hand in marriage, FITZWILLIAM DARCY uses the opportunity to "bargain" for her acceptance of a renewal of his proposal in exchange for his assistance in bringing Mr. George Wickham to justice. In Darcy's absence from Hertfordshire, Wickham has executed a scam to defraud the citizens of Meryton, including her father, of their hard-earned funds. All have invested in Wickham's Ten Percent Annuity scheme. Her family and friends are in dire circumstances, and more importantly, Mr. Bennet's heart has taken an ill turn.

Elizabeth will risk everything to bring her father to health again and to save her friends from destitution; yet, is she willing to risk her heart? She places her trust in Darcy's ability to thwart Wickham's manipulations, but she is not aware that Darcy wishes more than her acquiescence. He desires her love. Neither considers what will happen if he does not succeed in bringing Mr. Wickham before a magistrate. Will his failure bring an end to their “bargain”? Or will true love prevail?

Overlook Virtual Voice for story is more than worthwhile….

Concept, Lizzie’s desperation for help, realizing Mr Darcy was the Savior of their predicament. The meeting of the minds suddenly opening all the possibilities of a true success & a way of.acknowledging their true feelings upon examination.

Too much Wickham, not enough ODC

Not enough of a love story. It was okay, but not noteworthy. I didn’t like how the Bennet sisters referred to their parents as Mr and Mrs Bennet, even when at home alone. Sometimes hard to follow who was speaking especially with virtual voice. I liked Mrs Gardiner.

Elizabeth is stupid

Why can’t Elizabeth be normal just every now and then? She over dramatized everything in this story

virtual voice

I really had to force myself not to give up on this book because of the virtual voice. there's no life in it. Bland and flat.

Interesting Story

Intriguing plot and good writing skills. Lots of dialogue which is my preference. Well done. Narration is not great but serviceable and I appreciate it being offered in Plus. I would have liked more detail with the conclusion of the many threads in the story and less of Elizabeth’s same old, same old refusals and mean judgments. The woman definitely wants her pound of flesh. That gets old and tiresome. Lydia is ridiculous as is Mrs. Bennet. Why Elizabeth couldn’t see that coming was beyond reason. It’s fiction right? I was entertained by the story and I can recommend this one.

Awful narration.

Computer generated narration lacks emotion, intonation, proper verb tenses and pronunciation. Definitely prefer human narration.
