Story
What truly occurred at Ramsgate in the summer of 1811 when Miss Darcy journeyed there with her companion, Mrs Younge? Was it mere chance that Mr Bingley chose to lease an estate so near to Longbourn? And was there more significance to the fact that Mrs Gardiner’s family came from Lambton, a town close to Pemberley and the Earl of Matlock’s estate? The Secret of Pemberley delves into these questions and more, weaving together events, imbuing seemingly insignificant details with importance, and introducing a new character—Mrs Wilson, the mother of Mrs Gardiner. A theatre box owned by ...

Story
An unbelievable thing has just happened at Meryton’s Assembly Ball. A feather worked its way loose from Miss Bingley’s turban, swooping unerringly for Mr. Darcy’s unprotected eye! Instinctively, the gentleman in question raised his hand and stepped backward to avoid the object, tripping Miss Elizabeth Bennet and then falling upon her prone form. Scandalous! A marriage must occur, of course. But he does not want to marry an unknown country miss and she most certainly does not want to marry the proud, dour Mr. Darcy. Can they find their way to one another despite this inauspicious ...

Elizabeth is coerced into marrying Rev Collins in order to save her family from being "tossed into the hedge rows" after terminally ill Mr. Bennett leaves this world. Thankfully, just after the wedding, and before the marriage is consummated, Collins dies in a carriage accident on their way home to the Parsonage in Kent. Unfortunately Elizabeth is severely injured. Mr Darcy is devastated when he arrives in Kent and finds out that Elizabeth is almost dead. He is beside her bed constantly to help nurse her. Things really crank up as all the characters we love and hate make appearances in the story. Mrs. Bennett, Lady Catherine and Wickham are absolute evil people!
The plot moves swiftly and kept me soundly hooked until the end. I was thrilled that the worst of the characters were justly punished for their actions. There is angst, but the author does not make the listener suffer for extended periods of time. I really loved this book and highly recommend it, particularly to Jane Austen lovers.

This was a pretty good story with mostly redeemed characters. overall it would have been a 4.5 for the story itself.
