About this listen

It's the last long weekend of the summer and former investigator-turned-journalist Penelope Trubble has returned to her hometown of Bohemian Lake to help her father with his newspaper and private eye businesses.

With a contest prize of $10,000 on the line, the small town is more crowded than usual with summer vacationers on the hunt for a planted replica of the rare 1913 Liberty Head nickel that, according to local legend, was lost to Bohemian Lake over 50 years ago.

With the help of a spitfire local and the town's handsome new detective, Lucky Penny takes the bait and goes diving for the story behind the legend of the million-dollar coin. Unfortunately, her dive turns up more bodies than bounty.

The deeper she digs, the more secrets she unearths, but someone else is hunting for the real treasure, and they're willing to bury Penny.

An Enjoyable Small Town Mystery

Penny Trouble is back in Bohemian Lake to help her father run his business. She is catching up with friends and writing a story for her father's paper. This story holds your interest and keeps you reading/listening throughout the entire book. You get murder, small amount of romance and a treasure hunt. Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Very enjoyable. I am now starting the next book in this series to see what happens next.

Great short story.

I received a free credit for this book for an honest review. The story was great! The only thing I didn't love about this book were the names of the characters: Ben Babbon, Suzie Snob it just seems as an afterthought. I don't know that I would purchase this book for $10 on amazon because it is only 3 1/2 hours long, maybe put all the books together?

Fun story with a strong female lead

What a fun book! I enjoyed the feisty Penny and her eccentric coworker and also her good friend. I like the way there were a couple of stories interwoven and how they were all nicely resolved at the end. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Short Cozy Mystery

This was my first Rachael Stapleton's book. This short cozy mystery is entertaining, funny and sweet, filled with twists and turns. Penny is a fun character. I haven't read the other books from this author and I feel like I missed something. The narration was well done. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

A Murder To Dive For

I loved this book. It was a fun read/listen. I never guessed who the killer was until the end. The only negative I have is that the narrator needs to slow down a little bit. But it may be me because I’m such a country girl and my brain listens slowly lol. I love how the heroine is able to kick butt. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book, especially to see if Penelope starts dating the hunky cop. That would be a big plus.

SUPER GOOD!!

Murder, She Floats: A Penning Trouble Mystery by Rachael Stapleton, narrated by Ellen Latzen is an audiobook that will appeal to just about everyone, but particularly to those who love cozy mysteries, comedies, and even chick lit! Basically, it's a funny mystery that includes elements of a cozy, but doesn't exactly follow all the "rules" to a tee. By far, it is my favorite audiobook by Rachel Stapleton, so far! I loved it! I tend to give too much away, so I'll let you read the plot synopsis on your own, but just know that I was totally engaged throughout the entire book, and I didn't want it to end!! The characters are a ton of fun, their dialogue is as real as it gets, and their problems are relatable. I was pretty surprised at how much happened in less than 4 hours...wow! I know this series is going to be one of my favorites because I feel like I'm there in the scene watching everything unfold. You are going to love it!

Narrator Ellen Latzen did an awesome job! It was the first time I've listened to her perform, and I can't wait to hear more. She really has a way with dialogue...she brought these conversations to life! Everything she said sounded so authentic, that I think I even saw the chatacters' expressions! Everything from her interpretation of the text to her inflection and tone were right on. Bravo!

Without a doubt, Murder, She Floats: A Penning Trouble Mystery by Rachael Stapleton, narrated by Ellen Latzen deserves 5/5 stars in all categories. It is such a fun (and funny!) audiobook to listen to, and I really cannot think of anyone who wouldn't thoroughly enjoy it. I highly recommend it to all; I'm already looking forward to hearing the next in series when it's released!

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

Good “Who Done It” Story

I loved the constant guessing of just who the culprit was and which situation was a true crime... or a misunderstanding. Ms. Trouble needs to wade through the misdirections before she finds herself unable to stay above the murky waters of danger around her.

The narration was okay but I could have used a bit more delivery of emotions within the lines. Also, perhaps a bit more voice distinctions between characters.

Murder, humor, light romance and quirky characters

Penny is fun, spunky and smart. I love the crossover characters and the now comfortable setting of Bohemian Lake. A whole new crew with a few familiar tie-ins. Perfect Cozy, murder, humor, light romance, and quirky characters. Ellen Latzen did a fantastic job delivering each character in every situation. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
