Publisher's summary

After retrieving fresh lobster nets from a local laundromat, Cass Halloran rushes to attend a last-minute gathering with her knitting circle. But Cass can't stop worrying about the lonely boy she saw hanging around the dryers and the school uniform he left behind in a hurry. When she and her friends return the lost clothing the next day, they find the child and his younger sister alone, seemingly abandoned by their mother.

The knitters decide to facilitate a family reunion, but when the death of a recluse from the edge of town occurs, they end up investigating a crime instead - especially once they discover that the missing mother and one of their own are tied to both the victim's hidden fortune and her murder....

Before scandalous secrets break bonds and rumors tear Sea Harbor apart, the Seaside Knitters must string together the truth about the victim all while preventing a greedy murderer from making another move!

Disappointing

What did you like best about Murder Wears Mittens? What did you like least?

I really did not like this book at all. I had difficulty keeping track of who was who in the story.

If you’ve listened to books by Sally Goldenbaum before, how does this one compare?

No. She is a new author to me. I am not impressed.

Have you listened to any of Julie McKay’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. she is a new narrator / reader to me. She may be a good part of why I did not enjoy this book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no

Any additional comments?

I am greatly disappointed by this experience.

Lovely mystery - lots of interesting characters …

Really enjoyed this book and the performance. Next time I might write down the characters names and their relationships, as there are many and many generations. Loved the way it unfolded in the sense of community! I found the character. They are all talking about to be quite inspiring.

We read this in my knitting book club at the library in a tiny town, and we could all relate to the inter-relationships. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.

Sally does it again! What a wonderful group!

I love the friendship that abounds in Sally's books. I wish there was a yarn store like this near me :)

Slow to start

I didn't like the narrator. Story had too much descriptive narrative that was unnecessary and detracted from the story.

Needs more knitting

Hard to follow the story as my mind kept wandering. I like my murders with less romance and more twists. Lesson learned.

Another winner

Sally Goldenbaum has crafted another excellent story in her Seaside Knitters series. She keeps the originality of earlier books while letting the reader learn more about the characters. Julie McKay gives a wonderful performance as she brings it all to life.

Much better!

This book focused more on the mystery and less on the fiber and art end of things which is a good thing as I found it annoying in previous books that the author didn't have a good grasp of fiber arts. It was a good mystery. I enjoy the sense of community that serves as the backdrop for the series. I'll for sure buy the next one.
