Publisher's summary

Just two weeks to go before the Cherringham Charity Christmas Concert. Choir rehearsals are in full swing. Then the worst thing happens: Kirsty Kimball, one of the singers, is found dead from a severe allergic reaction to one of the home-made rehearsal cakes. Jack is pulled in to help bolster the depleted choir - and soon he's convinced that Kirsty's death was no accident. Sarah agrees, and the two of them are soon immersed in the jealousies, rivalries, and passions of Cherringham's Rotary Club choir...

Cherringham is a serial novel à la Charles Dickens, with a new audio episode released every two weeks. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby.

Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa. For fans of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series, Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who" series, Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham. The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in "Midsomer Murders" and "Jim Riley" in "The Life of Riley". He is also known for his film roles in "The Nativity", "Sorted" and "Son of Rambow". In 2012 Dudgeon starred as "Norman Birkett" on BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play series written by Caroline and David Stafford.

I am enjoying the series, and its characters. nice twists (no spoilers) didn't see the end coting. however, the audio even at its highest volume was still kind of low. not just this book but the previous one as well. hope they can fix this issue. still revommend as a quick and enjoyable listrn

Murder by Moonlight

Another great murder mystery solved by Jack & Sarah, love their characters and the way they go about solving the murders. Proper country sleuths. A definite read/listen story. The narration is very good, matching the characters perfectly.

3rd time is a charm!

I have been listening to these murder mysteries at night. On this particular one, I fell asleep twice around Chapter 15, only to wake up at the very end of the book. It was aggravating because I never found out who the killer was. So, fast-forwarding to Chapter 15 ( this afternoon) I could finally put this episode to bed.

Murder by Midnight: Cherringham 3

I’m quite enjoying these cozy stories. The only complaint or perhaps annoyance with this one centers on the epi-pens. I realize the cost of them at the time of this story and in England may be a huge difference than here in the USA and now. But, these things have expiration dates on them, you have to renew them frequently even if you don’t use them for an emergency...I have trouble believing anyone can stockpile them as the story leads you to believe, and I’d think the NHS would regulate how many you can obtain...maybe not. Well, that’s my only criticism I still enjoyed the story, the characters and the narrator. Now on to book 4!

Secrets

small-business, small-town, murder, murder-investigation, family, friendship, anaphylaxis, sleuth, England*****

Murder by anaphylaxis! The police took it at face value, but Sarah doesn't believe it, and neither does the choir accompanist. So Jack and Sarah do their own diligence and find the truth. Well done!
Voice actor Neil Dudgeon is excellent at his craft, but his audio equipment needs adjustment.
