About this listen

Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this new series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.

In "Murder in High Places", the sixth Bunburry book, Oscar will brave the Cotswolds for the first time! Alfie has tried for months to convince his best friend to visit him - but when a glamorous High Society Party in honour of celebrated actor Dorian Stevens is announced, Oscar just can't resist. He is - after all - Dorian's greatest fan and can't wait to meet his hero. But the evening at the lovely Saville mansion takes a murderous turn ...

Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series Piece of Cake. He is also the lead in the BBC series Inspector Lynley Mysteries, based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audio books to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

Betty is the worst

I really don’t understand the appeal in Betty. She is such a downer. Other than her, the characters are great, and the story is wonderful.

Alfi.. messes up

This latest story in the series has been the most interesting to me. My only complaint about this series is that the secondary characters except for Oscar and Liz are not very likable and some do not even seem sane (the Sargeant etc.). Betty as a potential GF is too self-involved and angry to be any comfort or foil for the issues that Alfi is facing. She thrives on her one-track understanding of life and world view which alienates others in this small town....easier to bully than in a big city. If the series continues, I hope there will be some more palatable characters in them. While I dearly love the intro/exit music to the Cheringham series, I don't like the music to this series, it doesn't seem to fit. But all in all, I am enjoying the series, especially the English locale, Alfi, and his friend Oscar (AKA Land the Butler). Highly appreciate that it's clean, smart, and fun. Excellent narrator and sound quality.

thoroughly enjoyed and awaiting the next book

In addition to my appreciation of previous books in this series, I heard/appreciated the comic relief - to my big smile..

One of the Best of the Series

This story may be the best yet in the series. More sober, with complicated relationships and disappointments, while still retaining some of the humor. Good job!!

I love this series of English mysteries, utilizing old English culture with modern day technology. I can just wrap my imagination around these clear, detailed descriptions. please never stop.

One of the best in the series so far!

My only complaint listening to Audible on my Android phone, is "download failure" periodically, pausing the ability to listen/play. After closing the app, it starts up again--but it happens frequently during the Bunberry episodes. All other series work fine.

Love this!!!!

I love all the Bunberry books but I really love this one for some reason. Nathaniel Parker is so wonderful with all of the voices. Sometimes I try to imagine him speaking a certain voice and that cracks me up too. 🤣
