Publisher's summary

Al De Duco is a man with a not so pleasant past.
A Chicago past that included being a very high-profile figure in the mob.
But he left that all behind when his boss, a mob leader, was murdered.
Now he has a new life in Seattle that includes an adoring wife and being on the right side of the law as a private investigator.
Even if his methods for solving cases can be somewhat unorthodox at times, he’s the happiest he’s ever been, and then the call comes.
A friend from his mob days needs his help.
And will it cost him the new life he’s made?
Tough choice.
Sometimes, it’s hard to make peace with the past.
But when murder is imminent, nice to know there’s a dog to watch your back!

Join Al, his old friends, and a dog named Hero, as they try to prevent another murder. Hopefully not Al’s.

This is the 17th book in the Northwest Cozy Mystery Series by a USA Today best-selling author.

Old friends, new murder

Murder in Portland (#17 NW Cozy Mystery series) by Dianne Harman has Al De Duco heading to Portland to see his old friends. These friends are from a time and place Al has left behind, but murder has come to the reunion. Al, now a Private Investigator, is determined to figure out who killed his friend. He is true to his word and uncovers the murderer. I love the surprise ending. The narration by Anna Wheeler is very good.

Murder in Portland

Murder in Portland, clean cozy mystery, is part of a wonderful series, but can be read as a stand alone without feeling lost. I enjoy following the characters on their adventures throughout the series. The narrator gave a nice performance.

The last person I would have suspected! When emotions get involved logic goes out the window. A very unexpected twist for AL at the end! Wow ! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Oh WOW

I loved this book. To see Al be with his old friends again. It was nice that he was able to help them. And for him to be on his own solving a case w/o Jake

Book is fine but performance is terrible, boring.

I enjoy Dianne Harmann books but this first attempt at listening to Audible rather than reading is yuck. Dialogue is rushed with very little inflection. Al DuDuco should be a dream character but other than trying to rough up her voice a bit reader failed miserably.
