About this listen

In Dublin's fair city, where the girls are so pretty, murder occurs at the feet of sweet Molly Malone....

Ferrying tourists around Dublin for the Leprechaun Limo Service makes quite a change after years in the military. Still, Megan Malone is enjoying her life in Ireland. She likes the scenery, the easy pace, the quirky, quick-witted locals. Everything - except having one of her clients drop dead at the statue of fabled fishmonger, Molly Malone.

Most restaurant critics notch up their share of enemies. Elizabeth Darr, however, was a well-loved international star. She and her husband, Simon, had just had dinner when Elizabeth collapsed, and spoiled seafood is the first suspect. The restaurant's owner, worried her business is doomed, begs Megan to look into it. Between her irate boss and a handsome Garda who's both amused and annoyed by her persistence, Megan has her hands full even before she's cajoled into taking care of two adorable Jack Russell puppies (which she is almost definitely not keeping). But if cockles and mussels aren't to blame, can Megan find the real culprit...before another fishy death occurs?

Omg the narration is DISTRACTING

So the story is good but I can’t keep my attention on it because the narration is off somehow. It’s too slow or sing song. Or too dramatic . I’m not sure. Caroline Lennon style narration would’ve done the storytelling justice- a bit more straightforward and not so slow with a more natural delivery.

Megan's tenacity

Excellent read and the combination of Irish and American characters 👌 perfection! Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Good description of Ireland

I will listen to anything Ms. Rayner narrates.
She brings so much character to each character.

Great start to a new series

I throughly enjoyed this story. The narrator did a great job with the Irish voices however when speaking in her own voice has a funny cadence that can be distracting. I had to speed up the narration, otherwise all was great.

Great Storyline and Relatable Characters

Lucy Raynor is an amazing narrator! Loved the surprising plot twist! Looking forward to the next in this series!

Narrator Nearly Ruined

While narrator, Lucy Raynor, did a fine-enough job on the dialogue parts of Dead In Dublin, her insistence on using her irritating, predictable, cadenced, sing-song story narration drove me wild! Because I enjoyed the various characters that author, Catie Murray, created, I hung in there and didn’t return this book.

The sing-song pitch and cadence of Raynor’s delivery was insistent and predictable enough that I, incredulous, considered dragging out a sheet of music composition paper and setting down the notes she used, over…and…over…in her gawd-awful delivery. As the story progressed, she seemed to have lost some of that maddening, formulaic delivery “technique” — or as the story progressed, there was more dialogue between characters, so the prevalence of her insistent delivery “approach” to the story telling was diluted.

Anyway, I wish Audible had a way to make “Notes to Self” within its subscriber pages as I’d flag this narrator to totally avoid in the future.

My two — or rather twenty — cents.

The narrator is superb

It’s a simple story. Done well and the narrator is so fun to listen too.

Horrible narrator

I was trying really to enjoy this book but the narrators fake expressionism drove me to rethink finishing.

Took me back to Dublin

One of my favorite all time trips was to Dublin - twice. Having the familiar locations and the perspective of an American there, brought me right in to the story. Very enjoyable and as an animal lover, I hope she keeps Mama and the babies in book 2. An easy enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Thank you
