About this listen

Queen Victoria herself presents the head of England's top investigative force, Thomas Pitt, with his most high stakes case yet in the 32nd installment of the New York Times best-selling series by Anne Perry. When Thomas Pitt is summoned to Queen Victoria's private chambers, he hardly knows what to expect. When she tells him that the body of one of her closest confidants - Sir John Halberd - has been found in the Serpentine, he knows he is facing his most daunting and dangerous investigation yet. Sir John was a man who kept many secrets, moving within a circle of the most powerful and prominent members of London society. And the more Pitt learns about Sir John's past, the more he puts himself and his loved ones at risk. The royal family cannot be denied, but will the most important case of Pitt's career be his last?

Why can Pitt can talk to Aunt Vespasia - even the Pitt’s maid Gracie - about cases and people etc but all of a sudden he can’t share even the very most basics with Charlotte??

Inconsistent Plotline

all I can say is I cried in public when Thomas was knighted. It was a better moment then Noraway's proposal.

I feel like crying at this moment with happiness and sadness. This is the last in this truly amazing series and I feel like I am leaving friends behind! The happy part is that this talented author has given us Daniel Pitt as a series! Thank you!

This story was so intriguing, intricately woven and brought Pitt into his full stride and master at his job. He also was recognized for it as he so deserved

Thank you Anne Perry for the hours and hours of entertainment with this brilliant series and all of the magical audible narrators!

This is good period mystery. Anne Perry provides a great deal of exposition to her novels regarding custom and class propriety in Victorian England, which I like it helps the reader to understand why characters behave the way they do. Sometimes as with this story the leaps in logic can be little tricky but overall the story is a good one.

I enjoy the Charlotte & Thomas Pitt Mysteries

Would you consider the audio edition of Murder on the Serpentine to be better than the print version?

Although it was an excellent rendition, I can't give an answer to this question...I listen to audio books because my eyes become strained when I read.

What did you like best about this story?

I found the plot very interesting and it was also very well developed and articulated. It has been some years since I read a book by Anne Perry, and reading this book, I felt she has become a master story teller. Mystery and suspense is by far my favourite genre, and yet I found her approach was quite innovative.

Have you listened to any of Jenny Sterlin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my introduction to Jenny Sterlin, but I enjoyed listening to her so much that I look forward to listening to other books read by her.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I pass on this one!

Any additional comments?

Truly enjoyable and easy to listen to. Definitely, one of Perry’s best books in the series of Pitt and Charlotte.

One of her best

I quite enjoyed the story but not the narrator. I missed narrator Davina Porter's elegant and subtle voicing of the characters.

Good story, disappointing narrator.
