Southern ladies at their finest

Loved the readers ability to keep the southern accent. This one had me going I totally got it wrong on who did it.
Great story line reminded me if a true southern bell

Entertaining & well narrated

A fun read that moved along nicely, but too predictable in many places, with actions often redundantly followed by the protagonist reiterating the purpose of what just occurred.
Characters are unique & distinct, with the exception of the murder victim's character, which could have been developed further to create more reader empathy for his demise.
Narration was well done over all, but Asian & Latino accents sounded the same. Maybe a change in tone of voice, rather than accents, would serve this narrator better.
An enjoyable story that held this reader's attention. I recommend this book if you are looking for a light-hearted, cozy mystery full of characters so odd that anything can happen.

My "pure entertainment" pick of the year

Probably the most entertaining and humerous audiobook I've reviewed this year. Bezu, the lovely Southern Belle, is entrancing, but her lodgers are, let's face it, a pretty peculiar bunch. Her house is falling down around her, the bills are piling up, yet must be paid, then along comes Cat, her friend, in need of a roof over her head.
With Southern hospitality stretching to the limit, beautiful Bezu finds room for her dear friend under her leaky roof. Now, with a house full to bursting, the adventures begin.
Swept into the story from the very start, I wanted to listen in one sitting, it is pure entertainment, I even laughed aloud, so be careful if you listen in a public place!
This story has everything a lighthearted read should have, murder and mystery seasoned with humour and a little romance.
If you are in need a few hours of good old enjoyment, then this will do the trick. Loved it, I have not read the first Chubby Chicks mystery, but I'll certainly be on the look out for more from the pen of Lois Lavrisa.

Narration

Karen White could not, in my opinion, have done a better job than this wonderful narration, she simply tells a story so well. I loved the Southern accents, and all the characters are so clearly defined that one is never left to puzzle "who's that again?"
Karen never gives cause to detract the listener from the story, it all flows beautifully without interruption. Tip top job!

Really funny and entertaining cozy mystery

Would you listen to Murderous Muffins again? Why?

I would love to listen to Murderous Muffins again! This book was the whole package--funny, great narration, good storyline, engaging quick listen.

What did you like best about this story?

I think I liked the banter between the characters the best. And Besu is a likeable, relatable character

What about Karen White’s performance did you like?

I thought Karen did a fabulous, if not a bit stereotyped, job of affecting accents. She had the whole gamut from southern to "oriental" to middle eastern.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I did listen to this book in one setting.

Any additional comments?

Just an overall delightful book!

Title-Really?OK I'll Listen But Doubt I'll Get Far

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I was VERY apprehensive because of the title. I didn't know quite what I was getting into. I thought it was probably a silly little, young adult mystery.

Boy, was I wrong! This was clever, smart, suspenseful, and funny. Great writing on behalf of the author. This is the second in the series *and I was given a copy in exchange for my thoughts and review.* Once I get through the back log of books that I have to listen to, I will definitely be getting the first and the rest of the series.

I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this book. It is good for some light reading and there is a sense of suspense while the humorous writing takes centerstage. Perfect for listening in the car on your way to work or after you drop the kiddos off at school.

The writing reminded me of the Stephanie Plum Series written by Janet Evanovich but is completely unique.

The narration/performance was excellent. There was a great array of characters including several women and several men and as is the true mark of a performer I was able to easily tell the difference between characters. Karen White gave her own identity to each character and it seemed like she was having a lot of fun reading the book without being over-the-top. And enjoyable listening and great addition to my library

NOTE: This one comes with no warning-it is clean, funny and fun

Credit/$ Worthy: YES! I am glad to have been introduced to this author and performer as I noted above. I will probably use my credit and or buy – depending on the price the rest of the books in the series

Cute Southern Story

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a cute story. I would hardily recommend reading/listening to Book 1 before this one. Lots of references to the story that would make more sense.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

yep, there's the set up for book 3

Would you listen to another book narrated by Karen White?

I might, would depend on the story

Was Murderous Muffins worth the listening time?

it was a cute story, kind of predictable but worth the listen.

2nd in cozy series

Second in the Chubby Chicks series. This story focuses on and is narrated by Bezu as she attempts to keep her family home by taking in boarders. One of the boarders is poisoned by eating her muffins and Bezu, with help from Cat, must solve the crime.

Nice cozy mystery read through Kindle and listened through Audible using immersion reading. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the various characters to life. While some parts of the story strain credibility, it is overall an enjoyable read with captivating characters

A cozy, fun southern mystery.

I received a free audio copy of this book for an honest review.

This was a great, cozy mystery. I had such a fun time listening to the audiobook on Audible. This book can be read as a stand alone; however, not having read the first, there were a few story items from the previous book that were not explained in the second. This said, the story points didn't affect the current tale, I just felt like I was missing some information. The story moves along fairly quickly and the cast of characters are awesome! The main character, Bezu is such a fun character and I loved her quirks and quips! The mystery takes a little while to get started, but the introduction to the various players is very entertaining, so I didn't mind the small delay. I kept trying to solve the mystery, but the story keeps you guessing! I definitely recommend if you are looking for a fun mystery.
