About this listen
After 10 years of cleaning up the dirt on Atlanta's streets, Callahan Garrity is trading in her badge for a broom and a staff of house cleaners. But, though the uniform is a little different, Callahan soon finds herself right back in the middle of a mystery when a client's pretty, pious 19-year-old nanny is gone...along with the jewelry, silver, and a few rather sensitive real estate documents.
Before she knows it, the meticulous Callahan is up to her elbows in a case involving illicit love triangles, crooked business deals, long-distance scams, and a dead body. Now she has to roll up her sleeves and start some industrial strength sleuthing to solve - and survive - this mess.

When newly divorced Ivy Perkins buys an old farmhouse sight unseen, she is definitely looking for a change in her life. The Four Roses, as the farmhouse is called, is a labor of love - but Ivy didn't bargain on just how much labor. The previous family left so much furniture and so much junk that it's a full-time job sorting through all of it. After a political scandal, fledgling lobbyist Dempsey Jo Killebrew is left almost broke, unemployed, and homeless. She reluctantly accepts to refurbish Birdsong, the old family place in Guthrie, Georgia. But, oh, is Dempsey in for a surprise. Drue Campbell’s life is adrift. Out of a job and down on her luck, life doesn’t seem to be getting any better when her estranged father, Brice Campbell, a flamboyant personal injury attorney, shows up at her mother’s funeral after a 20-year absence. Worse, he’s remarried - to Drue’s eighth-grade frenemy, Wendy, now his office manager. And they’re offering her a job. It seems like the job from hell, but the offer is sweetened by the news of her inheritance - her grandparents’ beach bungalow in the sleepy town of Sunset Beach.

But she could work here. One fateful summer she did, and married the boss’s son. Now, she’s the widowed owner of the hotel, determined to see it return to its glory days, even as staff shortages and financial troubles threaten to ruin it. Story
At the top of a closet, Ivy finds an old Santa suit - beautifully made and decades old. In the pocket of a suit she finds a note written in a childish hand.

Andrews can tell a funny story
This is the first Callahan mystery I have read and I think it carried the wit and southern character development of her other stories. The first story I read of Mary Kay Andrews was Itty Bitty Lies- I laughed till I wet my pants. If you know the south, you will know all these people. A light hearted romp.

Winner overall with a few irritations
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
You have to be of a particular mindset to enjoy this series, but keep an open mind and enjoy the experience.
What other book might you compare Every Crooked Nanny to and why?
Definitely get the other Mary Kay Andrews titles. She has a deadeye aim on southern life and writes with wit and charm!
Did Hillary Huber do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Narrator really needs to double check some of her city pronunciations. "Beaufort" is not pronounced "Bo-Fort", and at first I didn't even recognize what she was talking about. I do enjoy this narrator but some of the minor characters start to sound alike after a while.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, this is the perfect pick up and put down and come back listen.
Any additional comments?
I adore Mary Kay Andrews and while it took me a while to get used to this series, I am now sold and will listen to all of them.

GOOD STORY BUT.....
The narrator KILLED this book for me. I'm very Southern and the accent insults me greatly. It made it very hard to finish a good story. Her voice grated on my nerves throughout the story. I'm not sure I can continue with the series.

5 stars for Callahan
The last few books I have bought by new to me authors have bombed. But, I finally got lucky with this one.The characters are spunky, likeable, and believable. The story was well plotted and entertaining. The only thing I didn't like about it was the narrators voice. She did an okay job with the southern accent but her voice made some of the characters whiny. But overall, this is a very interesting and solid mystery. I bought the next book before I was finished listening to this one. If I like the others I might try Mary Kay Andrew's other books. I would definitely recommend this book.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I have a new series to listen to. The characters each had their own set of quirks and personality. I think that Edna was my favorite. I was actually laughing out loud at times! The narrator did a wonderful job with all the characters in the story.

JUST RIGHT
What made the experience of listening to Every Crooked Nanny the most enjoyable?
It's a lightweight murder mystery with kookie characters and just the right amount of
humor, terror, and mystery.
What did you like best about this story?
The buildup of the basic mystery pointing to certain characters only to have a twist at the end.
What about Hillary Huber’s performance did you like?
She had interesting voices for each character and was constant with them. I like her pace of reading, too.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The author brought in an element of realness with the main characters medical problem.

Entertaining
The plot was predictable but the characters were very entertaining and memorable. I would read the rest of the series however it won't be on the top of my list of reads.
