About this listen

Provocative, inspiring, and unflinchingly honest, My Grandfather's Son is the story of one of America's most remarkable and controversial leaders, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, told in his own words.

Thomas speaks out, revealing the pieces of his life he holds dear, detailing the suffering and injustices he has overcome, including the polarizing Senate hearing involving a former aide, Anita Hill, and the depression and despair it created in his own life and the lives of those closest to him. In this candid and deeply moving memoir, a quintessential American tale of hardship and grit, Clarence Thomas recounts his astonishing journey for the first time.

Autobiography of Clarence Thomas

Such a compelling story of one of the true originalists on the U.S. Supreme Court and an accurate account of those American Marxists who tried to destroy him, chief of those being Joe Biden. Anita Hill was the original Christine Ballsy Ford and both are accomplished liars.

A Modern Day Lynching

The title of this review is a direct quote from Judge Thomas during his Senate hearing.

It is sad and comical that the people that purport to represent the minorities only want to hear from them
If they agree with their point of view. These elite only believe in Freedom of Speech as long as you agree with them.

Judge Thomas had the audacity to think for himself and therefore had to be destroyed.

I hope he lives a very, very long and fruitful life.

I liked that he narrated this book himself.

One of the most inspiring stories I've ever read.

Reading material such as this should be required in order to receive a high school diploma in America.

Great listen

The author mostly talks about his life and his journey from his young life as democrat to his journey to EEOC to the Supreme Court. He doesn't discuss very many cases during his tenure.

Lessons we should all learn

Justice Thomas's life is what the American Dream used to mean: hard work, integrity, honesty, anyone can come out of poverty. It is refreshing reading an honest account of one's shortcomings and recognition of the need to do better. It gives me great comfort knowing that someone with his background sits on the Bench.

What a wonderful testimony

I chose this rating because of the heart pouring that was put into this book. This book was gifted to me as a birthday gift and wondered what would make me want to read it. But I decided to find out why my brother wanted me to read it and it is such an inspiration, the see how faith was tested and how he still held on to it and how his faith prevailed. I applaud your honesty and appreciate your service to this country!
