Gypsy-Rose Blanchard
About this listen
A victim of her mother’s Munchausen by proxy and child abuse survivor, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard’s unique and controversial case made headlines across the world.
Now, she’s finally free to start living her life on her terms—and to tell her own story as only she can.
Forced to use a wheelchair in public and endure a lifetime of faux illness, fraud, and exploitation, Gypsy was subjected not only to her mother’s medical, physical, and emotional abuse, but deprived of childhood milestones. Prevented from attending school or socializing, Gypsy’s formative years were defined by pain and isolation.
After serving eight years in prison for the role she played in her mother Dee Dee’s murder, Gypsy is embracing her fresh start—and reminding all of us that it’s never too late.
In this revelatory, harrowing, and ultimately hopeful memoir, Gypsy shares the painful realities she grew up with and the details of her life that only she knows, including:
• The abusive cycle that began with Dee Dee’s abuse by her father
• Gypsy’s fear that continued unnecessary surgery would leave her truly disabled
• How she coped with guilt and accepted responsibility for her mother’s death
• Memories of her final days in prison
• What she learned upon reviewing her own medical records for the first time
• How it felt to finally see her family again as her authentic self
Featuring new facts about Gypsy’s life that she previously kept private, My Time to Stand offers an unprecedented look at the real Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, proudly embarking on her ongoing journey to recovery and self-discovery.

She refused to allow the torture change her, like it changed her mother. This is the story of Jennifer’s past, how she got through it, and how she survived it all.

In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

What does “Give them Lala” mean? It means giving the truest, most honest version of yourself to the world. It means being authentic, bold, adventurous, and having an unapologetic approach to life. Hollywood is where Lauren Burningham, aspiring actress from Utah, fully embraced her alter-ego Lala Kent, entrepreneur, entertainer, and film and television star. Some say she’s rude; Lala says she claps back. Some say she’s too bold; Lala knows she’s reality TV gold. Truth is, without giving them Lala, Lauren could never have become the woman she is today.

Child abuse casts a long shadow over the history of childhood. Across the centuries there are numerous accounts of children being beaten, neglected, sexually assaulted, or even killed by those closest to them. This book explores this darker side of childhood history, looking at what constituted cruelty towards children in the past and at the social responses towards it. Focusing primarily on England, it is a history of violence against children in their own homes, covering a large timeframe which extends from medieval times to the present.

Matt reveals (without apology, of course) what led him to becoming comedy’s biggest lightning rod before he reached thirty, in a story full of bold and hysterical takes on everything from Justin Bieber tramp stamps and rap battles with ex-cons to Matt’s struggles with depression and his many brushes with failure before finally hitting it big.

My inspiration for writing this book are the men and women whose lives ‘happen” within the pages. They are extraordinary people. All have appeared on the Death Or Prison podcast and have given their remarkable, inspiring testimonies of restoration before the camera. Good portions of their lives have been lived behind bars for crimes they committed in an earlier life. Some of the crimes were heinous. Murder, drugs, armed robberies and desperation were once what their lives were driven by and revolved around. Their stories are in many cases overwhelmingly sad until they get to the point ...

Brooke Shields has spent a lifetime in the public eye. Growing up as a child actor and model, her every feature was scrutinized, her every decision judged. Today Brooke faces a different kind of scrutiny: that of being a “woman of a certain age.” And yet, for Brooke, the passage of time has brought freedom. At fifty-nine, she feels more comfortable in her skin, more empowered and confident than she did decades ago in those famous Calvin Kleins. Now, in Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old, she’s changing the narrative about women and aging.

Couldn’t put it down
I’ve been gripped by Gypsy’s story from the news break she was missing, i remember praying that they find that little girl alive & being shocked when she walked into court on her own for the first time. Using JPay i became pen pals with her briefly while she was imprisoned & always tried to stay up on what events occurred in her life thru various FB groups, including the best one run by Kristi, where we could share our support & love for Gypsy. I’m constantly moved by Gypsy’s strength & resilience, rooting for her along the way thru every trial & tribulation. I’m so grateful (as a survivor of childhood abuse myself) that Gypsy has shared her story with the world. She is inspiring & I hope she continues her path of using her life as an example that aids others. I can not wait for the next chapter of her life that is still unwritten… thank you for this detailed glimpse into the good the bad & the ugly… and for being a beacon of hope that everything is only temporary & life can always turn around!

Review
I read this book in a couple of days. It was a good read, but I feel like I was hoping for more. It was very simple and kind of felt like a watered down version .Very safe .

Beautifully Heart wrenching
I could not stop listening. Gypsy did a great job reading the book. There was many incidents in Gypsy’s life prior to her mom’s death that are missed in the movies. Such a sad situation. My heart goes out to them all.
