Publisher's summary

Regret, betrayal, kidnapping, loss, madness, abuse, passion, love.

In this modern retelling of Hansel and Gretel, 13-year-old foster children Griselda and Holden escape from their abductor after three years of brutal captivity and try to cross the Shenandoah River on foot. Tragically, one of them makes it to safety, but the other is left behind.

Ten years later, Griselda's boyfriend drags her to a fight club grudge match, and her world is turned upside down when she watches Holden step into the ring.

Though the connection between them is fierce, bitter regret, simmering rage, and a tangle of physical and emotional scars lie between them, just as dangerous as the white water of the Shenandoah.

Never Let You Go is a story of fear and hope, defeat and survival, and two people - once profoundly broken - who discover that love is the only thing that can make them whole again.

Due to profanity, scenes of physical abuse, and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18. (Note: Children are not sexually abused in this book.)

Great story and Performance

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Brought me to tears a number of times.

One star reduced for overall because of the not so stella recording. My enjoyment was often marred by the sound of the moving of the microphone and towards the later part, the quality of the recording deteriorated significantly for about 10 mins.

Kept me up way to late!

Wow! I didn’t want to stop listening to this book! The feelings evoked from this story were awesome. Desperation, anger, fear, love, hurt, hope and happiness.. all there. I am exhausted… partly from the crazy roller coaster of emotions in this book and partly because it kept me up WAY TOO LATE!!! I felt these characters had good growth throughout the book and I loved them together.

IMYCILYF - awwwww!!! LOVE IT!!!!

At a few points I didn’t know how the story was going to proceed to my longed for happily ever after.. but it did. I have never read this author before. This book just showed up in my Facebook news feed - someone must have shared, and the blurb sounded really good… I am glad it did not disappoint! I will be sure to check out more of her books.

On the audio aspect of this book: Becca Ballenger narrated well, I would listen to her again. However, there was often muffled background noises, thumping, voices and even sirens at one point. Through the majority of the story, her voice was clear and easy to understand, though it did move away from the mic a few times and one chapter was very “tin-can” like, which thankfully only lasted that one chapter.

I truly recommend this book, though like the blurb says - there is child abuse (not sexual), violence and sex. So be warned if any of that is not your cup of tea.

Beautiful!!!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first started this story, I thought it would be cheesy. But this is a beautiful story, of ups and downs and the trials of trying to accept, trust and love another person. As well as the hope you hold for the future. It truly is a modern fairytale and is more than worth the credit!

Griz and Holden Break Your Heart and Fill It Up Over and Over Again

Ms. Regnery has the amazing talent of interpreting love, heartbreak, and the cruelties and blessings of life and bringing it to us in the most visceral ways. I have over 3,000 books on my kindle. I've been a voracious reader all of my life. I appreciate a storyteller who does her research. Offering alternating POV's is a must. She provides insight into their hopes, dreams, their hurting and their deepest, abiding affection. On the periphery of her tales lie some very sad, demented (all too real) villains. The hardest part is, the incredible angst and sorrow isn't the least bit contrived.. it feels all too plausible. Katy cuts to the heart, the very depths of these beautiful souls. You just want to hug these two and bring them home! Do not miss her incredible writing. I will read and listen to every one available. The narrator Becca Ballenger is spot on. Thank You!

Leaving bread crumbs

Love love love the story! So sweet and full of tragedy. Katy's story was flawless. Becca Ballenger was great however the recording was somewhat questionable. Every few minutes you can hear the microphone being moved. That made it a little difficult to keep my interest in the story. That being said without that everything about this story was amazing.
