About this listen

Based on true events, but unlike anything you've ever read before, #1 New York Times best-selling author Nelson DeMille has created what may be his finest work to date.

At dusk on July 17, 1996, on a deserted Long Island beach, a man and a woman engage in adulterous sex in front of a video camera. Suddenly a terrible blast lights up the dark summer sky. TWA Flight 800 has just exploded in midair with 230 souls on board, and the video camera has recorded the last moments of the doomed airliner.

Five years later, the government has declared the crash a result of mechanical failure. But John Corey, an ex-NYPD detective who is now a contract agent with the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force, is persuaded by Kate Mayfield, his wife and task force partner, that the case deserves a second look.

Kate, a career FBI agent, plays by the rules. Corey plays by no rules but his own. Against long odds and warnings from their superiors, they set out to reopen the case and discover its most crucial piece of evidence. The hunt will lead to a conspiracy at the highest levels and a race toward an elusive and lethal truth that could be even more horrifying than the crash of Flight 800, one with unimaginable consequences for America...and the world.

Fantastic

Scott Brick does a wonderful job narrating this gripping story. Others had recommended the book and I loved it.

Don't miss this one by one of my favorite authors.

Spectacular Ending

Great narrator, great story, spectacular ending!!! I can usually surmise how the ending will play out, but this one caught me totally by surprise. It actually took my breath away.

Good, but ending letdown

I really enjoyed the book. I know this was based on facts so one doesn't want to change history, but the ending was a letdown. There were no answers - just an abrupt ending. This leaves the reader hanging.

Blown Away

I listened to Lion's Game and was totally engaged in the John Korey protaginist developed by Nelson DeMille and delivered by Scott Brick. I was delighted to find Night Fall as a continuation of Korey's character and Scott Brick at the helm. I literally could not stop listenening to this audio, although I had reserved the pleasure for my daily walks. What a blast! I have lived in New York and thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions of all the locales. As the climax built up to the Trade Center disaster I cried to listen. Nelson DeMille captured a fictional climax in the most realistic tragedy our country has ever endured. It still takes my breath away. A full five stars for this audio book

Better than marginal

Relatively more verbose filler than Lion's Game and the abrupt, convenient, disappointing ending hacked me off. BUT the bottom line is I enjoyed the listen.

My favorite DeMille

This book is so gripping that you cannot stop listening to it. I have read the book at least 4 times & my paperback is worn to a frazzle. I will never forget Flight 800, as it happened right in my backyard. One of my best friends was a ticket agent for TWA at the time & she boarded every passenger on that flight. And the 9/11 tragedy is where so many NYPD & FDNY, that I knew personally lost their lives. So my personal attachment to these two world altering events is enormous. Nelson is my favorite author & no one can tell a story like him! And Scott Brick’s narration is superb.

Good and Exciting Read

This is one of those books that grabs your attention and never lets go. I mostly enjoyed all of the recent events facts and in depth thought processes of Corey's investigative mastermind.
