About this listen

In the epic finale to New York Times best-selling author Julie Kagawa’s Shadow of the Fox trilogy, the scroll has been taken, and no one is safe.

To save everyone she loves from imminent death, kitsune shape-shifter Yumeko gave up the final piece of the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers. Now, she and her ragtag band of companions must make one desperate final effort to stop the Master of Demons from using the scroll to call the Great Kami Dragon and make the wish that will plunge the empire into chaos.

Shadow clan assassin Kage Tatsumi has regained control of his body and agreed to a true deal with the devil - the demon inside him, Hakaimono. They will share his body and work with Yumeko to stop a madman, and to separate Hakaimono from Tatsumi and the cursed sword that trapped the demon for nearly a millennium.

But even with their combined skills and powers, this unlikely team of heroes knows the forces of evil may be impossible to overcome. And there is another player in the battle for the scroll, a player who has been watching, waiting for the right moment to pull strings that no one even realized existed...until now.

I found just what I was looking for in this saga. From all the moments I laughed to all the moments that choked me up, it was a great read/listen.

Memorizing story

In the first book I was concerned that the story would be a little to linear and predictable for me but and I stayed because the voice acting was exceptional. as the series went on I found out just how wrong my first assumptions were. there was no part of this story that played out like I thought it would all the chars were likable and well fleshed out and the romance moments were done so very tastefully. all in all I was enamored with the series and loved it.

exceptional ending to a long well drawn story.

This book had me intrigued the whole time. Plot twists and others had me on the edge of my seat the entire book. And the ending was not what I expected at all. The readers where amazing performers as well. Overall one of my more favorite series

Great and amazing

This story was clearly inspired by Fushigi Yuugi, but... I like Fushigi Yuugi, so... I guess I like this, too.

Familiar, but still good

Follow the adventurist quest of unique characters with a narrative mastership of voices. Once again Julie has created a world based on folklore and fantasy. One of my favourite listen’s!

What a journey!

Great book for people into YA fantasy. Action mixed with a significant dose of romance that had been building throughout the last 2 novels. Always nice to see mature gay rep too, even if it’s in the supporting characters.
If you need an ending that provides a ridiculous amount of closure (i mean that in a positive way) epilogue gives a full overview of what happens for the next 100 years after the conclusion of the main narrative.
I have 3 niglly complaints that absolutely should not put you off enjoying this series.
1. I found the voice acting disjointed as it appeared each of the narrators recorded separately without hearing how the rest of the cast characterised or voiced their role, meaning that, for example, the way tatsume’s actor voiced yumeko for his chapters sounded nothing like yumeko’s voice actual actor etc. wish they could have done this a bit more radio play style and had a narrator in addition to voice actors only their own lines for the non suki chapters.
2. Sometimes the writing was a little….. 1960s sitcom lol like instead of having normal conversation about battle they each have to chime in with a catchprase version of “i’m in!”
3. Reika’s only personality trait was A n g e r y. The problem of having 7 primary characters is that it means more work for the suthor to make them all 3 dimensional and it sort of didnt happen until very late in the game if at all eg when okame(sp?) develops feelings at the end of book 2. Reika didnt have enough development to feel like a tsundere so much as a toxic person who spewed nothing but criticism and negativity for 3 whole novels.

Satisfying end to a great series

The end to this trilogy was so awesome! I was on the edge of my seat. There were tears though and some laughing. I highly recommend this series.

I could stay in the world Kagawa created forever! The characters make you fall in love with each of them! Even though I want more of the adventure it was the perfect ending, I cried it was so beautiful.

Beautiful!
