About this listen

1271 A.D. - The Wolfe's greatest son is a man known as NIGHTHAWK.

Patrick de Wolfe is every bit his father's son - cunning, intelligent, and ruthless. An enormous man with his father's dark hair and his mother's pale green eyes, he's the man destined to lead William de Wolfe's great legacy. He is so great, in fact, that the king has personally asked for his service, as one of the king's personal body guards. On the eve of Patrick departing for this auspicious assignment, he finds himself caught up in a skirmish along the Scots border.

And a prize lands in his lap that will change his destiny.

A prize in the form of a Scots captive harboring a deadly and important secret, one that could bring war and destruction upon those who shelter her. When Brighton “Bridey” de Favereux is rescued by the powerful English knight, she is taken back to the massive fortress of Questing Castle, seat of the legendary de Wolfe family. Having known nothing but hardship and cruelty her entire life, she is surprised when they are kind to her. The English, who are supposed to be her mortal enemy, are gracious and generous. For the first time, she understands that people can be kind to each other.

And the kindest one of all is the man who saved her.

Some loves are unexpected while others are instantly realized. The love between Patrick and Brighton is something that comes from a deeper place of understanding and attraction, a powerful love that cannot be denied… but it is a love that may cost them both their very lives when Bridey's terrible secret is uncovered.

Nighthawk

The story is good but some of Brad Wills females voices were hard to understand and were like nails on a chalkboard. I loved his male characters voices.

My favorite Le Veque!

Sweet, fun story that adds to and carries on Wm de Wolfe’s story thru his son Patrick. Great fun to see how everyone is doing. Characters you love, and good dialogue. A small issue with the narrator— most awesome male voice ever, especially for a knight, but didn’t like his female voices at all. Seems like he tried too hard to make them high pitched when he would have been better off simply softening his voice for the female characters.

Great Story

I love this series and this book didn't disappoint. Great storyline. I did take off one star for the narrator because when he did some of the women's voices I couldn't understand him. So glad I found these books and I'm off now to get the next one.

A Medieval Tale Comes Alive

I decided to begin the “De Wolfe Dynasty “ and try it on audible. I enjoy the English and Scottish drawl. What a delight it’s been. The story kept me hooked and company as I did my chores and then supplanted the TV. I look forward to enjoying additional stories on audible. My only wish is that there would be a female reading the female parts. I find the male read of female parts sometimes irritating.

Good story and well worth a listen.

This review is more of a note to myself about the book. Because I am listening to all the books in the series in chronological order, it is to keep the storyline straight in my mind. Please refer to the rating for my real opinion.

Patrick de Wolfe, an English Knight, recuses Brighton, an enemy Scot, from a family that wants her dead because of the history of her birth. She is a princess born of the Viking King Magnus. Patrick and Brighton fall in love and marry and her life changes for the better except for the fact that there are still others wanting her death as a way of vengeance. Patrick fights to keep her safe and her father soon shows up. Patrick has one more fight to the death against the man Magnus had chosen to marry his daughter not knowing she is already married. Patrick wins the fight and Magnus gives them his blessing and respect. He will also help William de Wolfe, (Patrick's father), kill those that want Brighton dead. Patrick and Brighton live on to have a good and long life together.

The story moves at a good pace and there is just enough action to keep interest. Loved the ending with the fact that Brighton was able to give her dead mother's spirit peace enough to rest. Enjoyable story from beginning to end.

Inspired! Spell Binding!

The long awzited story of Patrick de Wolfe is finallhy here! Patrick is the greatest knight England has seen since his farther, William de Wolfe! Big, strong, over powering, handsome, and with personality is the description most used in describing him! With good cause. Patrick is bigger than life and smart too! This novel holds intrigue, humor, betrayal, great hate abd desire for revenge! But that is not all! It also explores kindness and a love that never dies! This book deserves a top billing along with the rest of the De Wolfe family series, but is a wonderful stand alone by itself! It is not dependant on any other book or references to prop it up! it is wonderful on its own!

Made the women sound like Harpies!

The Narrator did well with the male voices. Female voices left much to be desired.

Good story

I liked this story. It felt medieval, if that makes any sense. The siege on the castle was especially cool.
