About this listen

Enormous, with a Scots father and a Greek mother, Tay Munro is the stuff gods are made of. He is also the meanest, biggest, nastiest trainer of men at Blackchurch. Most importantly, he is a firm believer that women should not be warriors and he does his best to wash out the female he is assigned to train.

Enter Athdara de Ghent. Beautiful and mysterious, Tay is attracted to her from the start but that does not stop his attempts to break her. When he realizes how strong she is, he becomes intrigued. Athdara is a warrior from the Flanders region, but there is a darkness about her. There is also a vulnerability.

Tay, the resister of women, begins to fall for the woman he cannot break. When her real reasons for coming to Blackchurch are revealed, Tay realizes she's not there simply to learn the ways of the Blackchurch Guild.

Join Tay and Athdara in a blood feud that has followed Athdara all the way to the wilds of Devon. Because Blackchurch is a trainer of men, they are forbidden to take sides in any given conflict that comes to their doors. They're not protectors, but trainers and teachers.

Will Tay choose his oath to The Blackchurch Guild over the woman he loves?

Contains mature themes.

Outstanding!

Kathryn can write the most heartfelt stories! I even bought one for a friend in a nursing home. She can’t see to read, but she is enjoying listening to it. Don’t miss getting them all.
The narrator was did a great job with the characters. He made it exciting.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Wonderful story. My only disappointment is that the story is too short. It could be longer with more details! These are great to listen to while working on household chores or driving to work!

Great Story

This is one of the best Kathryn Le Veque stories that I’ve listened to in ages. Great story, engaging characters and a perfect narration. Want the next one!

Kathryn does it again!

I have always been a fan of all Kathryn Le Veque books, but this one is my new favorite! I can’t wait to read Fox’s story, The Protector.

Meh…

This story did not have the signature Le Veque “ I can’t put it down” I found it very slow paced and drawn out without any riveting moments. Sex and romance not until Chapter 21?… FFS I have read more heat in an old Harlequin romance novel. For the first-time ever, I don’t think I will be interested in a series created by Kathryn LeVeque. A hard pass for me.

On another note- the narration was excellent!

I hope it continues in the next book

The story builds throughout and then just drops out. Many of the characters introduced were not developed at all, like the priest, the friend, the brother. And why are the poor servants or people in the villages stupid, fat, toothless, smelly…whatever. Mostly good stories but no depth. Could better.

boring

I really wanted to like this first book in her new series. It was just so boring. Her earlier books are so much better. Her new books continue to move away from the interior emotional lives of her characters and their relationships with one another, and more towards logistics, settings, and politics which are difficult to follow and boring.
