About this listen

During a cross border shopping trip, a family vanishes. No reason. No ransom. No cry for help. Bus driver Wallace Carver fears the worst when his family fails to meet him at the Bellingham, Washington mall. His anxiety is justifiably heightened when security cameras unexplainably show that he crossed the Peace Arch border alone. Now, all Wallace wants to do is get his wife and sons back. But first he has to work out why they were taken and by whom.

Editorial reviews

Narrator Noah Michael Levine's dark-toned performance underscores the menace in this unpredictable thriller. Canadian bus driver Wallace Carver has taken his family on a cross-border shopping trip and everything goes smoothly until his wife and children fail to show up at the designated time at a mall in Bellingham, Washington. Levine uses pacing to intensify the mounting tension and anxiety as Carver discovers that all traces of his family have been removed back home. Now with only his best friend Crow Joe to help him, Wallace must find out what has happened to his family and why.

Loved the characters

it was a little slow getting into it, but the plot was well developed and kept me guessing. I loved how the main character was an ordinary guy with great character and determination.

Great story, unnecessary foul language.

This was a really good story, but the excessive, unnecessary use of the F word detracted from the enjoyment of the book.

Long drawn-out storyline books for high prices

Thanks for the free 3-book audio book package, but the storyline is not worth the price of the remaining individual books

Tender story

This is an interesting story about a man whose family is kidnapped for a reason he does not know. The story can hold your attention for a long time and would be called a real page turner if it were not for the narrator who needs a bit more work on really acting the narration. His voice is kind but not mysterious.

Unexpected Favorite

My mind was going all over the place trying to figure out WHY someone would steal this man's family, right out from under his nose, at a shopping mall, of all things . . . this unassuming, kind bus driver from Canada, who wanted nothing more than to take his wife and boys on a little trip across the border to the states . . . money was always tight, but hey, who cared . . . Wallace Carver knew what really mattered. And then . . . BOOM! Out of nowhere, his whole world, GONE. Nobody will listen. Nobody will help. And worst, they suspect him. And a security camera shows him crossing the Canadian border alone? Impossible . . . Who's behind this mess? And why? Even I would start to think I was going insane . . . not this man . . . and not his best friend, Crow . . . this is the BEST thriller I've read/listened to in a good long while . . . its not cuss free, I have to tell you . . . but neither would I be . . . when evil came to knock on this simple, loving family man's door, he reciprocated, in spades . . . and by the way, I thought the end of Chapter 71 was PERFECT . . . the whole book will stick with me for a very long time . . .
