About this listen

Over twenty years ago, when she was just a teenager, Belle ran from everything she knew to escape her abusive stepfather. She left behind the boy she loved and a circle of friends who had been like family to her since childhood. Now, years later, the death of one of her close friends brings her face-to-face with the boy she had to leave. Only now he's not a boy anymore. Dylan has never gotten over Belle running away all those years ago. When Nate -- one of their Circle of Seven childhood friends -- is found dead, Belle and Dylan are drawn back together. It's not long before he realizes he has a second chance to make her his. The second reason Belle left could ruin any future she might have with Dylan. The secret hangs over her head while she falls in love with him all over again. When a dangerous drug cartel starts targeting the Circle of Seven friends, Dylan must use all his federal law enforcement training and contacts to stay one step ahead. He must solve the clues Nate left behind before all of them end up dead.

Fantastic story!

This book has mystery, intrigue, suspense, murder, and romance. This is an extremely interesting storyline that is well written. The story had me on the edge of my sit. I definitely recommend this book and would recommend it.
The narrator does a pretty good job with the characters making it easy to distinguish between the characters. However I would love to hear a little more emotions in the telling of the story. Don’t get me wrong he does a good job. He does a great job with the male voices.

Loved the story, narration not so good

I loved this story. I have read the book several times. I like listening to the audiobook because I love the story. However, the narrator made a lot of mistakes in the reading. At one point he said the wrong word and then laughed before starting over. That was distracting. It is hard for a man to mimic a woman's voice, so I won't be too critical of his female vocals. The vocals for the lead male character were great. But, the way he read the female dialogue was robotic. It did not add feeling to the words. That said, if you can get past the narration missteps, then I would recommend this audiobook, mainly for the romance, action and suspense.

Recommended

I was part of a close growing up. Not that I would like to go through what they did to become a member. What I liked about them is that even after not seeing or being very close they could pick right up again, the trust & connectedness was just there. Of course the connectedness is what ended up leading to more trouble. The story was woven so tightly together.

I was a bit disappointed not to see Tori or Landon after all Landon & Dylan seemed close in their story.

Samuel Valor did a great job narrating. I do feel his talents are best expressed using male and neutral tones those were nice to listen to. His female voices sound forced and very much like a man trying to imitate a woman badly.
