Captivating world building - glacial pace

It's fun getting to know another Gorean region and culture, but the author is in no hurry to hit the story beats. Lots of drawn out, repetitive conversations.

One of my all time favorites, Part 2

I made an error in my review of Priest Kings, but other then forgetting which book the character Elizabeth comes in, it is still valid and really applies to this book too. I've known Tarl Cabot for most of my life. Ralph Lister is the perfect person to read him. This is my 3rd time through the first 5 books of the series, and this recording made it all new to me again. I really think Priest Kings and Nomads are one book. If you have problems with the subject matter in John Norman's book, the my review won't matter. Taken together, Priest Kings and Nomads make a five star book to me. It is funny, the first person in translation is brilliant, and I will always remember some of the characters I met during Tarl Cabot's struggles on the counter earth. Thank you for bringing it to life for me. I'd love to have audio recordings of all 26, even though I still haven't finished "Witness." I keep putting it off because I don't want it to end.

Gorean Saga

The Gorean series is basically Conan the barbarian meets a smut novel on another world. There's lots of violent battles and vicious giant man eaters with a dash BDSM. The series gets a little repetitive as the books go on but not to badly for a 20 plus book series. If you liked the John Carter in 'A Princess of Mars' series most likely you'll enjoy these books there very similar. I prefer the Gorean series myself, except the ones narrated by women which I haven't bought so don't know if there good or not I personal dislike women narrates.

Back to the wagon times

Tarl Cabot befriends and inflitrates the wagon people, and learns much of their culture along the way. This book is one of my personal favorite among John Norman's works. Leaving behind the technological world of the priest kings, we delve into the culture of the wagon people and glimpse a simpler way of life, though not less complex in culture. We learn more of the system of slavery on Gor. The juxtaposition of city life, and the conflicts that brings. John Norman's fascination with Master/slave dynamics grow and materialize in-depth throughout this book.

Full-disclosure, I read many of the Gor books back in the 1980's, and was quite pleased to see them arrive on Audible. My wife is now listening to them for the first time, having heard of the series before, and is enjoying them. This age-old series still has some life in it, perhaps primarily for those involved with adjacent dynamics.

Nomads of gor

Brilliant narration yet again lifting the emotional interactions beautifully. The story itself is a wonderful blend of adventure, thrill and fantasy. I particularly enjoyed the interaction between Tarl and his earthling slave turned Gorean 'Vella' towards the end.
