Publisher's summary

Number-one best-selling author Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels are: "irresistible" (Houston Chronicle), "stunning" (Booklist), "outrageous" (Publishers Weekly), "brilliantly evocative" (The Denver Post), and "making trouble and winning hearts" (USA Today).

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is certain of three truths: People don't just vanish into thin air. Never anger old people. And don't do what Tiki tells you to do.

After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton's premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it's on Stephanie to track down the con man. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape...or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive.

Since the hospital staff's lips seem to be tighter than the security, and it's hard for Stephanie to blend in to assisted living, Stephanie's Grandma Mazur goes in undercover. But when a second felon goes missing from the same hospital, Stephanie is forced into working side by side with Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, in order to crack the case.

The real problem is, no Cubbin also means no way to pay the rent. Desperate for money - or maybe just desperate - Stephanie accepts a secondary job guarding her secretive and mouthwatering mentor Ranger from a deadly Special Forces adversary. While Stephanie is notorious for finding trouble, she may have found a little more than she bargained for this time around. Then again - a little food poisoning, some threatening notes, and a bridesmaid's dress with an excess of taffeta never killed anyone.... Or did they? If Stephanie Plum wants to bring in a paycheck, she'll have to remember: No guts, no glory.

BEST IN AWHILE

Janet's recent Stephanie Plum books have been quite contrived recently. And not in a good way. This book was different. I really enjoyed this book and the multiple plots seemed to work & the flow was natural.

I would recommend this book. Lorelei King, as always, does great characters. She gets an A+.

Mediocre

I have read all of this Stephanie Plum series. I was not as excited about this story. The narrator is fun, but the story did not seem fluid to me.

The Journey Continues

stephanie plumb is a character I just cannot stop listening too. Her matter of fact attitude this funny refreshing and OnPoint. I'll be starting the next audiobook in a few minutes of the series and look forward to more adventures she has with Lulu Ranger and of course her police officer crush

Loved the book, not crazy about the reader

Would you consider the audio edition of Notorious Nineteen to be better than the print version?

No, because I found the reader a little silly when she tried to do the men's voices, as well as Stephanie's. She didn't sound at all like she was from New Jersey, which would have been fine, but coupled wit the fact that she tried so hard to sound like all of the men (from NJ or not) was a distraction for me & took away from the book

What other book might you compare Notorious Nineteen to and why?

It is right up there with the other 18 Stephanie Plum novels. Love them

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Lorelei King?

Maybe Janet Evanovich or me!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh

Any additional comments?

Love all of Janet Evanovich's books-not just the Plum novels. She is a great writer

It's cute, it's short, it's Stephanie Plum

If you liked the first 18 you'll probably like this. All your favorite characters are here, Stephanie is in all her usual messes, it will make you laugh. Lorelei King is wonderful. I love her voices. However, the entire book is just a few hours long and the story line is very simplistic. But then, we don't read these books for intellectual stimulation, do we? We read them for fun and this book is fun.
