About this listen

You've lost your job as a department store lingerie buyer, your car's been repossessed, and most of your furniture and small appliances have been sold off to pay last month's rent. Now the rent is due again. And you live in New Jersey. What do you do?

If you're Stephanie Plum, you become a bounty hunter. But not just a nickel-and-dime bounty hunter - you go after the big money. That means a cop gone bad. And not just any cop. She goes after Joe Morelli, a disgraced former vice cop who is also the man who took Stephanie's virginity at age 16 and then wrote details on a bathroom wall. With pride and rent money on the line, Plum plunges headlong into her first case, one that pits her against ruthless adversaries - people who'd rather kill than lose.

The New York Times Book Review calls Stephanie Plum "a Jersey girl with Bette Midler's mouth and Cher's fashion sense." In Stephanie Plum, Evanovich has created a resourceful and humorous character who stands apart from the pack of gritty female detectives.

I watch the movie and jumped down the rabbit hole, that is Stephanie Plum. I have read every one of her novels and went on to read( or listen to) all of her other books. I wait every year for the next one to come out.
The main character is likable and we all have friends that sort of just fall into their lives, with no advanced planning. Stephanie is one of those people. I enjoy getting involved in her adventures. These are good light-hearted reading with life thrown in for a little action.

I can’t wait for the next Stephanie Plum novels.

The only thing I didn’t like was how the narrator had these long breathy pauses. Otherwise, the storyline was good and I laughed out loud several times!

In the end, I enjoyed this story and the character of Stephanie Plum. It just took soooo long to get there. I can’t not finish a book so I pushed through. For the first half I knew I would never read another Stephanie Plum book, but by the end that changed to a definite commitment to the next book in the series.

Took a while….

Stephanie, plum books are most interesting to me. I love the story lines and there's plenty of action. The narrator did an awesome job of keeping my attention and expressing the ideas of the story. most awesome job

loved the narration

It was a fun, simple story. I would have liked it better if I had read it. I think the narrator makes the main character sound like a 60+ woman; all I could picture was Blanch from the Golden Girls. Stephanie Plum is supposed to be a 30 year old young woman. This voice was not it.

It was okay

This was my first Stephanie Plum book. I like the character and the reader’s voice. The writing, not so much. Strange attention to details that don’t matter, and way too much exposition (unraveling the plot) at the very end. But I may try another one to see if the writing gets better. Interesting female detective characters are hard to come by.

Entertaining if you don’t think too much
